03.11.2019. ЦЮРИХ (Швейцария). Состоялся первый архипастырский визит епископа Иринея в Покровский приход.
Преосвященнейший Ириней, епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский после окончания юбилейных торжеств в Берне, впервые посетил Свято-Покровский приход Цюриха, где возглавил Всенощное Бдение и Божественную Литургию в воскресный день. Его Преосвященству сослужили протоиерей Петр Штурм и диакон Владимир Свистун. Архиерейские богослужения посетило множество прихожан, среди которых значительную часть составили дети и юноши. Хором искусно управлял иподиакон Николай Банкул.
После Божественной Литургии обращаясь со словом проповеди, Преосвященнейший Владыка растолковал евангельскую притчу о богатом и Лазаре, указывая, что и после смерти, богач, проживший неправедную жизнь, и видя Лазаря на лоне Авраама, воспринимает последнего как товар или как свой инструмент. Он почти приказывает Аврааму, послать его для утоления собственной жажды. Богатый человек всю жизнь мечтал о хороших вещах, но когда его жизнь кончилась, он обнаружил, что все эти вещи были временными, а в сердце не нашлось ничего, приготовленного для Вечности.
Владыка Ириней подчеркнул: «в этой притче заключается сокровищница мудрости для нашей духовной борьбы. Мы как богатый человек, тратим слишком много энергии, пытаясь достичь комфорта и славы. Мы хотим, чтобы нас знали и уважали – и все же духовная истина заключается в том, что чем больше мы стремимся к себе, таким образом, тем больше мы теряем себя. Мы настолько погружаемся в себя, что перестаем быть настоящими людьми, истинными личностями, и мы начинаем исчезать в пропасти страстей». Архипастырь призвал каждого, прежде всего, искать Царствия Божьего и Правды его.
После Богослужения Первоиерарху Русской Православной Церкви Заграницей Высокопресвященнейшему Митрополиту Нью-Йоркскому и Восточно-Американскому Илариону, который в этот день праздновал День своего Ангела, было провозглашено Многолетие! К владыке Иринею обратился протоиерей Петр Штурм, который поблагодарил высокого гостя за понесенные труды и от имени цюрихского прихода выразил огромную радость по поводу его визита и совместной молитвы. После богослужения состоялось чаепитие, где прихожане и духовенство продолжили радостное общение с Архипастырем.
11/03/2019. ZURICH (Switzerland). First visit of His Grace, Bishop Irenei to the Parish, Protection of the Mother of God.
His Grace Bishop of London and Western Europe Irenei this weekend visited Zurich, following his visit to Bern for that parish’s 75th anniversary celebrations. This was His Grace’s first visitation to the Holy Protection Church in Zurich, where he led the All-Night Vigil on Saturday and the Divine Liturgy on Sunday. The Divine Services were headed by His Grace together with Archpriest Peter Sturm and Deacon Vladimir Svistun. Many of the parish attend the special service, which included a plenitude of children and young adults. The parish choir offered heartfelt and prayerful singing conducted by Subdeacon Nikolai Bankoul.
After the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Irenei addressed the congregation with a sermon. His Grace interpreted the day’s Gospel account of the rich man and Lazarus, emphasising that even after death, the rich man — who had lived a self-centred an unrighteous life — seeing Lazarus in the bosom of Abraham, perceived the latter as a commodity and as an instrument for his own gain, as much as ordering Abraham to send Lazarus to quench his thirst. The rich man had sought after worldly goods all his life, but when that life was over he found that all these things were temporary and nothing in his heart was prepared for Eternity.
His Grace emphasized: ‘In this parable lies a treasury of wisdom for our spiritual struggle. We, like the rich man, spend too much energy trying to achieve comfort and glory. We want to be known and respected; and yet the spiritual reality is that the more we strive for ourselves, the more we lose ourselves. We are so immersed in ourselves that we cease to be real people, true personalities, and we begin to disappear into the abyss of passions.’ His Grace urged everyone to seek, above all else, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
After the service, His Grace ask the congregation to remember and pray for the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of New York and Eastern America, whose namesday it was on the day of Bishop Irenei’s visit to Zurich; whereafter the faithful joined in singing ‘Many Years’ for the Chief Pastor of the Church Abroad. Archpriest Peter Sturm, Rector of the parish, then addressed His Grace and the assembled faithful, thanking the parish’s honoured guest and pastor for the work he has done and on behalf of the Zurich parish and expressing great joy over his visit their worship together. A luncheon was then held, where the faithful and clergy continued joyful fellowship with His Grace.
