9 / 22 JANUARY 2023: On the Sunday after Holy Theophany, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe made an archpastoral visit to the Cardiff parish of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God.

Having prayed at the solemn evening services on the eve, on Sunday morning the Ruling Bishop was greeted at the doors of the temple with the traditional bread and salt, vested upon the cathedra, and proceeded to head the Divine Liturgy, co-served by the clergy of the Cardiff parish: Hieromonk Mark (Underwood), Archpriest Luke Holden and Deacon Mark Fisher, together with Deacon Andrei Borisas and Reader George Sultan of the London Cathedral, who arrived with the Bishop for the festivities. The service was beautifully sung by the small but talented parish choir.

Offering a homily on the Apostle reading for the day, in which St Paul speaks of the many roles in the Church that exist in order ‘to equip the faithful for the work of ministry’ (Ephesians 4.12), which is thus the responsibility of all Christian faithful, His Grace Bishop Irenei concluded by offering words of gratitude and love to the clergy of the Cardiff parish, who piously present the fulness of Holy Orthodoxy to the local community with zeal and care.

At the conclusion of the Divine Services, a festive banquet was prepared by the parish at which His Grace was able to visit for several hours with the faithful.

Воскресным утром Его Преосвященство был встречен у дверей храма, облачен на кафедре, а затем возглавил Божественную литургию в сослужении клира Кардиффского прихода: иеромонаха Марка (Ундервуда), протоиерея Луки Холдена и диакона Марка Фишера, вместе с диаконом Андреем Борисасом и чтецом Георгием Султан Лондонского собора. Божественную литургию украшал небольшой, но талантливый приходской хор.

Проповедуя об апостольском чтении дня, в котором св. апостол Павел говорит о многих ролях в Церкви, которые существуют для того, чтобы снаряжать верных «на дело служения» (к Ефесянам 4, 12), которое, таким образом, является обязанностью всех верных христиан, в завершение Преосвященнейший епископ Ириней вознес слова благодарности и любви клиру Кардиффского прихода, благочестиво и с усердием преподносящим полноту Святого Православия местному сообществу.

По окончании богослужения силами прихода была приготовлена праздничная трапеза, на которой Его Преосвященство смог несколько часов пообщаться с верующими.
