TUESDAY 26 JULY / 8 AUGUST 2023: The Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Holy Land continues in its second week, and we share a selection of photographs from the pilgrims’ progress thus far. Features of the first week included: the Altar Feast of St Mary Magdalene, celebrated in the Convent in her honour on Gethsemane; the midnight Liturgy celebrated in the Holy Sepulchre, and Divine Liturgies celebrated in the Tomb of the Mother of God and in the Cave of the Nativity of Christ, as well as on the Mount of Olives; visits to the various sites of Christ’s passion in Jerusalem; an extended audience with His Beatitude the Patriarch of Jerusalem; prayers and visits in the desert at Mar Saba, Mar Elias, the cave of St Elias, the monastery of St Gerasimos, the tomb of St Euthemius, and over the most recent days in various places throughout Galilee: Magdala, the Mount of the Beatitudes, a boat journey on the Sea of Galilee, the house of Sts Peter and Andrew in Capernaum, the place of St Peter’s confession of Christ, and many otherы; immersion in the Jordan river; the ascent of Mt Tabor; the ascent of the Mount of the Beatitudes; visits to Nazarath with the Akafist in the church of the Annunciation; veneration of the ancient church built on the site of the first public miracle of Christ, in Cana; and many other visits.

The pilgrimage continues until the coming weekend, with the group of 54 pilgrims soon to visit the monastery on the Mount of Christ’s Temptation, the Monastery of the Chozebite Fathers, the sacred sites of the Dead Sea and many others. They will also celebrate the Divine Liturgy daily, including coming services in the Monastery of St Chariton; and again on Gethsemane for the feast of the Hodegetria icon of the Mother of God and in the monastery on the Mount of Olives.

Особенности первой недели включали: престольный праздник святой Марии Магдалины в монастыре в ее честь в Гефсимании; нощная литургия, совершаемая во Гробе Господнем, и Божественная литургия, совершаемая во Гробе Божией Матери и в пещере Рождества Христова, а также на Елеонской горе; посещение различных мест страстей Христовых в Иерусалиме; расширенная аудиенция у Блаженнейшего Патриарха Иерусалимского; молитвы и посещения пустыни в Мар-Сабе, Мар-Илия, пещере святого пророка Илии, монастыре Святого Герасима, могиле преп. Евфимия, а в последние дни в различных местах по всей Галилее: Магдала, гора Блаженств, путешествие на лодке по Галилейскому морю, дом святых апостолов Петра и Андрея в Капернауме, место исповедания св. ап. Паломничество продолжается до ближайших выходных, и вскоре группа из 54 паломников посетит монастырь на горе Искушения Христова, монастырь отцов-хозевитов, святыни Мертвого моря и многие другие. Они также будут ежедневно совершать Божественную литургию, в том числе ближайшие службы в монастыре св. Харитона; и снова в Гефсимании на праздник иконы Божией Матери Одигитрии и в монастыре на Елеонской горе.
