24 OCTOBER / 6 NOVEMBER 2023: The Feast of the icon of the Mother of God, ‘Joy of All Who Sorrow’ is the Altar Feast of two diocesan parishes: that in Mettingham, England, and that in Menton, France. This year, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe greeted the community in Mettingham with a festal letter, conveyed to the faithful by the Reverend Priest Mark Tattum-Smith, while the Bishop himself led the festal celebrations in the south of France.
Having first celebrated the Sunday Liturgy in Menton on the 5th, Bishop Irenei returned to the parish on Sunday evening for the festal Vigil, where he was greeted by the Reverend Priest Evgeny Nikitin and the Deacon Oleg Petrov. Matushka Marina conducted the choir of the historic French parish, and the All-Night Vigil was kept compunctionately by the clergy and faithful.
On Monday morning, the greeting of the Bishop took place on the steps of the temple, after which the festal Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by the clergy with confident joy in the love of the Mother of God. At the Little Entrance, the parish’s faithful Priest, the Reverend Evgeny Nikitin, was awarded the right to wear the kamilavka, and the cries of ‘Axios!’ were especially fervent as the faithful congratulated their much-loved spiritual father.
Vladyka Irenei offered a homily on the Feast at the end of the Liturgy, after which His Grace presented Matushka Marina with a Gramota in honour of her twenty years as a Church choir conductor, the past five of which have been for the Menton Parish. A festal meal then followed, during which the Bishop, clergy and faithful maintained fellowship in the joy of the feast, discussing the spiritual life and the activities of the parish.

В этом году Преосвященнейший епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский Ириней приветствовал общину Меттингема праздничным письмом, которое передал верующим священник Марк Таттум-Смит, а сам епископ возглавил праздничные торжества на юге Франции.
Совершив впервые воскресную литургию в Ментоне 5-го числа, епископ Ириней в воскресенье вечером вернулся в храм на праздничное бдение, где его приветствовали местный священник Евгений Никитин и диакон Олег Петров. Матушка Марина дирижировала хором исторического французского прихода, а Всенощное бдение совершалось духовенством и верующими.
Утром в понедельник на ступенях храма состоялась встреча Правящего архиерея, после чего священнослужители с уверенной радостью в любви Божией Матери сослужили праздничную Божественную литургию. На Малом входе верный приходской священник Евгений Никитин награждался права ношения камилавки, и особенно горячо было пение « Аксиос!», когда верующие поздравляли своего любимого духовника.
По окончании Литургии Владыка Ириней произнес слово на праздник, после чего он вручил матушке Марине Грамоту в честь двадцати лет ее деятельности в качестве регента церковного хора, из которых последние пять лет – для Ментонского прихода. Затем последовала праздничная трапеза, во время которой Архиерей, духовенство и верующие поддерживали общение в радости праздника, обсуждая духовную жизнь и деятельность прихода.

24 OCTOBRE / 6 NOVEMBRE 2023 : La fête de l’icône de la Mère de Dieu, « joie de tous les affligés » est la fête de l’autel de deux paroisses diocésaines : celle de Mettingham, en Angleterre, et celle de Menton, en France. Cette année, Son Excellence, l’évêque Irénee de Londres et d’Europe occidentale a accueilli la communauté de Mettingham avec une lettre festive, transmise aux fidèles par le révérend prêtre Marc Tattum-Smith, tandis que l’évêque lui-même dirigeait les célébrations festives dans le sud de la France.
Après avoir célébré pour la première fois la liturgie à Menton le dimanche, Mgr Irénee est revenu le soir à la paroisse pour les vigiles festives, où il a été accueilli par le révérend prêtre Evgeny Nikitin et le diacre Oleg Petrov. Matoushka Marina a dirigé le choeur de la paroisse française historique et les vigiles ont été célébrés avec dignité par le clergé et les fidèles.
Lundi matin, l’accueil de l’évêque a eu lieu sur les marches de l’église, après quoi la Divine Liturgie festive a été concélébrée par le clergé avec une joie confiante dans l’amour de la Mère de Dieu. A la Petite Entrée, le fidèle prêtre de la paroisse, le révérend Evgeny Nikitin, a reçu le droit de porter la kamilavka, et les cris de « Axios ! » étaient particulièrement fervents lorsque les fidèles ont félicité leur père spirituel bien-aimé.
Vladyka Irénée a prononcé une homélie à l’occasion de la fête à la fin de la liturgie, après quoi Son Excellence a remis à Matoushka Marina une Gramota en l’honneur de ses vingt années comme chef de chœur de l’Église, dont les cinq dernières années pour la paroisse de Menton. Un repas pour la fête a ensuite suivi, au cours duquel l’évêque, le clergé et les fidèles ont maintenu une communion fraternelle dans la joie de la fête, discutant de la vie spirituelle et des activités de la paroisse.
