The Nativity of Christ is Celebrated at the Diocesan Cathedral and Across the Diocese | Рождество Христово торжественно празднуется в кафедральном соборе и в приходах епархии

On 25th December 2019 / 7th January 2020, the Russian Orthodox World celebrated the Nativity according to the flesh of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, with Divine Services spanning several days and culminating in the Divine Liturgy of the Feast on Tuesday morning.

At the heart of the Diocese’s celebrations were the festal Liturgies headed by the Diocesan Bishop, His Grace Irenei of London and Western Europe, serving at the Diocesan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God in London, England, and the Vicar Bishop of the Diocese, His Grace Alexander of Vevey, serving at the Church of the Great-Martyr Barbara in Vevey, Switzerland. In the customary unity of the Church, the same festal Liturgy was served in all the parishes of the Diocese, spanning its eight countries and five languages, sounding forth into the world the glorious news of the Angels to the shepherds: that today is born in the flesh the Saviour of mankind, bringing glory to His world and peace to His creatures!

As is customary, the Nativity Epistle of the Diocesan Bishop was read from the amvon of all the Diocese’s parishes at the conclusion of the festal Liturgy, conveying the Archpastor’s greetings and congratulations to all the faithful.

In a majority of parishes, festal meals were held after the Divine Services, including children’s singing, carols, and the mutual congratulations of the faithful and clerics in the joy of the feast.

At the Little Entrance of the Divine Liturgy in London, the Deputy-Rector of the Cathedral, Archpriest Vitaly Serapinas, was awarded the palitsa in honour of his years of service to the Church.

25 декабря 2019 года / 7 января 2020 года полнота Русской Православной Церкви отмечает Рождество по плоти Господа нашего и Спасителя Иисуса Христа. Богослужения предпразндства продолжались несколько дней и завершились Божественной литургией в сам день праздника во вторник утром.

В сердце нашей епархии, в кафедральном соборе Рождества Пресвятой Богородицы в Лондоне, Англия, была отслужена праздничная Божественная Литургия, возглавленная ее Управляющим Преосвященнейшим Иринеем, епископом Лондонским и Западно-Европейским. Также викарий Западно-Европейской епархии Преосвященннейший  Александр, епископ Вевейский возглавил торжественные богослужения в церкви Святой Великомученицы Варвары в Веве, Швейцария. Подчёркивая единство Церкви была отслужена одна и та же праздничная Литургия во всех приходах епархии, охватывающая восемь стран и пять языков, которая донесла до мира славную весть, подобно как и 2000 лет назад Ангелы донесли ее пастырям: что сегодня рождается во плоти Спаситель человечества, вознося Ему в Вышних славу и возвещая мир Его творению!

Традиционно Рождественское послание епархиального Архиерея было зачитано во всех приходах епархии по окончании праздничной Литургии, где отцами-настоятелями были переданы приветствия и поздравления Архипастыря всем верующим.

В большинстве храмов после Богослужения прошли разговения, в том числе состоялись рождественские представления детей, прозвучали колядки и взаимные поздравления верующих и священнослужителей, подчёркивая радость самого праздника.

На Малом входе во время Божественной литургии в Лондоне помощник настоятеля собора протоиерей Виталий Серапинас был награжден палицей в честь многолетнего служения во благо Церкви.
