On Friday 19th October / 1st November 2019, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe met with the Ambassador to Switzerland of the Russian Federation, His Exellency Sergei Viktorovich Garmonin, at the Russian Embassy in Bern.
His Grace was the guest of the Ambassador in conjunction with the festal celebrations of the Holy Trinity Parish in Bern, which on the following morning celebrated its 75th anniversary.
Bishop Irenei was received at the Embassy following the Vigil of Feast, together with His Grace Bishop Alexander of Vevey, Vicar Bishop of the Diocese, with accompanying local and visiting clergymen. Other members of the diplomatic department also attended the dinner reception kindly provided by the Ambassador. During their visit, His Excellency Sergei Viktorovich and His Grace Bishop Irenei, together with guests, discussed the special place held by the Church Abroad within the Swiss Confederation and beyond, focussed on the spiritual nourishment of the Orthodox diaspora.
The Ambassador and members of the Embassy diplomatic corps offered their official congratulations on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Bern Parish.
В пятницу 19 октября / 1 ноября 2019 года в посольстве России в Берне управляющий Западно-Европейской епархией Его Преосвященство Ириней, епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский встретился с Его Превосходительством Сергеем Викторовичем Гармониным, послом Российской Федерации в Швейцарии.
Его Преосвященство стал гостем посла в связи с празднованием юбилея Свято-Троицкого прихода в Берне, который на следующее утро отмечал свое 75-летие.
После окончания Всенощного Бдения, Преосвященнейшего епископа Иринея на приеме сопровождали викарный епископ Вевейский Александр, а также прибывшие на юбилейные торжества священнослужители. На приеме и ужине, любезно предоставленном господином послом, присутствовали также сотрудники дипломатического корпуса. В рамках визита Его Превосходительство Сергей Викторович Гармонин и Его Преосвященство епископ Ириней вместе с присутствующими обсуждали особое место, занимаемое Зарубежной Церковью в Швейцарской Конфедерации и за ее пределами, сосредоточенное на духовном окормлении православной диаспоры.
Господин посол и члены дипломатического корпуса официально поздравили духовенство с 75-летием бернского прихода.
