Les jeudi 3 / 16 et vendredi 4 / 17 décembre 2021 se sont déroulés les offices solennels à l’occasion le fête de la sainte Mégalomartyre Barbara, patronne de l’église de Vevey (Suisse). Cette année, la fête a été marquée par la présence d’un grand nombre de clergé ainsi que par la bénédiction de l’iconostase et du kiot pour l’ornement du saint Pontife Jean le Thaumaturge.
Avant les Vigiles, Mgr Alexandre, évêque de Vevey et vicaire du Diocèse, avec le clergé de la paroisse (le Prêtre Aviv Saliou-Dialo et le Protodiacre Michel Vernaz), et aussi en présence de l’Archimandrite Martin (de Caflisch, PM), de l’Archiprêtre Quentin de Castelbajac venu de Lyon et du Prêtre Dimitri Mottier (PM) de la paroisse de Sion, a béni l’iconostase tout récemment restaurée. Puis, le nouveau kiot contenant l’ornement pontifical que portait Vladika Ioan lorsqu’il célébrait à Vevey ou à Lausanne a été béni là où les fidèles pourront maintenant se recueillir.
Le lendemain, d’autres clercs se sont joints pour la célébration de la Divine Liturgie : les Archiprêtres Paul Tzvetkoff et Emilien Pocinoc de la Cathédrale de Genève, l’Archiprêtre Peter Sturm de Zürich, le Hiéromoine Piotr de la Laure de Kiev, le Prêtre Ioan de Berne ; le prêtre Pavel Golinsky de Bâle était aussi là. Malgré les difficultés actuelles, le froid et ce jour ouvrable, une assistance nombreuse venue de divers cantons suisses a tenu à participer à cette belle fête.
Après la procession, un moleben a été célébré devant l’icône et les reliques de la Sainte. Un repas festif organisé par les dames de la paroisse, a réuni les participants dans une atmosphère conviviale et fraternelle.

On Thursday 3 / 16 and Friday 4 / 17 December 2021 solemn services took place on the occasion of the feastday of the holy Great-Martyr Barbara, patroness of the church of Vevey (Switzerland). This year the feast was marked by the presence of a large number of clergy as well as by the blessing of the iconostasis and the kiot containing vestments of St John the Wonderworker.
Before the Vigil, His Grace Alexander, Bishop of Vevey and Vicar of the Diocese, together with the clergy of the parish (Priest Aviv Saliou-Dialo and Protodeacon Michel Vernaz), in the presence also of Archimandrite Martin (from Caflisch, MP), Archpriest Quentin de Castelbajac from Lyon and Priest Dimitri Mottier from the parish of Sion (MP), blessed the recently restored iconostasis. Then, the new kiot containing the hierarchical vestments that Vladyka St John wore when he celebrated in Vevey or Lausanne, was blessed, before which the faithful can now pray.
The following day, other clerics joined those already present for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy: Archpriests Paul Tzvetkoff and Emilien Pocinoc of the Cathedral in Geneva, Archpriest Peter Sturm from Zürich, Hieromonk Peter from Kiev Lavra, the Priest Ioan from Bern, and the priest Pavel Golinsky from Basel. Despite the current challenges, the cold, and the fact that the feast fell on a working day, a large group of faithful from various Swiss cantons desired to participate in this beautiful celebration.
After the procession, a moleben was celebrated in front of the icon and the relics of the Saint. A festive meal organised by the ladies of the parish brought together the participants in a friendly and fraternal atmosphere.
