17.12.2019. VEVEY (Suisse). Le mardi 17 décembre 2019, alors que la Sainte Eglise célèbre la mémoire de la sainte mégalomartyre Barbara, eurent lieu des solennités ecclésiales à l’occasion de la fête paroissiale en l’église de Vevey.
Les célébrations furent présidées par l’évêque diocésain, Son Excellence Irénée, évêque de Londres et d’Europe occidentale, en compagnie de Son Excellence Alexandre de Vevey, évêque vicaire du Diocèse, et avec de nombreux clercs venus de diverses villes de Suisse. Afin de partager la joie de la paroisse Sainte-Barbara se sont rassemblés des fidèles non seulement de la Riviera mais aussi des hôtes de marque parmi lesquels quelques professeurs et des étudiants orthodoxes de la Faculté de Théologie de l’Université de Fribourg.
Lors de la Petite Entrée le diacre Vladimir Svistun, clerc de la Cathédrale de Genève, a reçu le droit de porter le double orarion. Durant la Liturgie, une litanie pour les défunts a été prononcée pour les recteurs, clercs et paroissiens décédés, ainsi que pour l’archiprêtre Thomas Hardy nouvellement décédé, le plus ancien prêtre de notre Diocèse, dont les funérailles avaient lieu ce même jours à Londres.
Un événement particulièrement important s’est déroulé ce même jour dans la paroisse, à savoir l’ordination sacerdotale par l’évêque Alexandre de Vevey du diacre Aviv Saliou-Diallo. La Divine Liturgie a été suivie d’une procession autour de l’église avec aspersion d’eau bénite, et, devant la tombe de l’évêque Ambroise (Cantacuzène), de bienheureuse mémoire, on a chanté « Mémoire éternelle ».
Après le molében, l’évêque Irénée s’est adressé aux fidèles pour exprimer sa sincère joie non seulement pour la célébration de la Divine Liturgie au cours de laquelle le pain et le vin sont devenus les Saints Dons vivifiants, mais aussi pour l’ordination qui a eu lieu et qui concerne chaque paroissien et la communauté dans son ensemble, puisque désormais existent au sein de cette paroisse les trois ordres ecclésiastiques majeurs : un évêque, un prêtre et un diacre, ce qui aidera de jour en jour à une croissance spirituelle.
Son Excellence l’évêque Irénée a félicité le protodiacre Michel Vernaz, clerc de longue date de l’église Sainte-Barbara, à l’occasion de l’anniversaire de son ordination, et il a également remis à Olga Igorievna Englert, starosta et cheffe du chœur, ainsi qu’à Madame Sophie Scalici, des lettres de remerciements épiscopaux pour leur engagement de nombreuses années durant pour le bien de l’Eglise. Au nom de la paroisse, l’évêque Alexandre de Vevey a remercié Monseigneur Irénée pour sa participation à cette fête paroissiale.
D’abondantes agapes, préparées par les dames de la paroisse, ont permis aux fidèles et au clergé d’avoir des contacts chaleureux. S’adressant au père Aviv, Vladyka Irénée, parlant de la grâce du Saint Esprit descendue ce jour dans son cœur, a invité le nouveau prêtre à se montrer pour les croyants un digne exemple « par la parole, par la conduite, par l’amour, par l’esprit, par la foi, par la pureté » (1 Tim. 4 :12). A son tour, Vladyka Alexandre a remercié particulièrement la mère et l’épouse du prêtre nouvellement ordonné, et il a souligné l’importance de leur abnégation et de leur soutien dans le service quotidien d’un pasteur orthodoxe. Puis, le nouveau prêtre lui-même s’est adressé aux hiérarques, au clergé et aux paroissiens pour leur demander leurs saintes prières et leur appui moral pour la tâche qui lui a été assignée en ce jour par la Sainte Eglise.

17.12.2019. ВЕВЕ (Швейцария). В день престольного праздника состоялась священническая хиротония.
Во вторник 17 декабря 2019 г., когда Св. Церковь отмечает день памяти св. влкм. Варвары, состоялись церковные торжества по случаю престольного праздника в Вевейском приходе.
Торжества возглавил Управляющий епархией Преосвященнейший Ириней, епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский, которому сослужил Преосвященнейший Александр, викарный епископ Вевейский, а также многочисленное духовенство, прибывшее с разных городов Швейцарии. Разделить радость Свято-Варваринского прихода собрались верующие не только со всех уголков Женевской Ривьеры, но и почетные гости, среди которых несколько профессоров богословского факультета Фрибургского университета, вместе с православными учащимися.
На малом входе клирик женевского кафедрального собора диакон Владимир Свистун был награжден правом ношения двойного ораря. Во время Божественной Литургии были особо помянуты преставившиеся настоятели, священнослужители и усопшие прихожане, а также новопреставленный протоиерей Фома Харди – старейший клирик нашей епархии, скончавшийся намедни.
В этот день в приходе состоялось знаменательное событие – священническая хиротония диакона Авива Салиу-Диалло, которую совершил Епископ Вевейский Александр. После Богослужения состоялся праздничный крестный ход с окроплением святой водой. У могилы приснопоминаемого епископа Амвросия (Кантакузена) была провозглашена Вечная Память!
После молебна епископ Ириней обратился к верующим со словом проповеди, где выразил подлинную радость не только по случаю свершения Божественной Литургии, где преосуществились хлеб и вино в Животворящие Св. Дары, но и в связи с совершенной Хиротонией, касающейся каждого прихожанина и всей общины в целом, ведь ныне приход становится в своем роде уникальным, ибо имеет среди клира епископа, священника и диакона, что, несомненно, ему поможет духовно возрастать изо дня в день.
Его Преосвященство поздравил многолетнего клирика Свято-Варваринского храма протодиакона Мишеля Верна с годовщиной рукоположения, а также вручил старосте и регенту хора Ольге Игоревне Энглерт, а также г-же Софии Скаличи благословенные архиерейские грамоты в признательность за многолетние труды во благо Церкви. От имени прихода викарный епископ Вевейский Александр выразил Управляющему Западно-Европейской епархией признательность за присутствие на престольном празднике.
Дружественное общение гостей и духовенства продолжилось на обильной трапезе, приготовленной силами местного сестричества. Обращаясь к иерею Авиву, Преосвященнейший Владыка Ириней, указывая о благодати Св. Духа, снишедшей в этот день в его сердце, призвал клирика быть для верующих достойным образом «словом, житием, любовью, духом, верою, чистотою» (1Тим. 4:12). В свою очередь, Преосвященнейший Владыка Александр выразил особую благодарность матери и супруге новоиспеченного священника, подчеркнув важность их крестоношения и поддержки в повседневном служении православного пастыря. Сам же священник обратился к архиереям, духовенству и прихожанам с просьбой святых молитв и моральной поддержки в предстоящем ответственном послушании, возложенном в этот день на него Святой Церковью.

12/17/2019. On Tuesday 17th December 2019, celebrated by the Holy Church as the feastday of the Great-Martyr St Barbara, festive celebrations were held to mark the occasion of the patronal feast of St Barbara’s Parish in Vevey, Switzerland.
The celebrations were led by the Ruling Bishop of the Diocese, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, together with His Grace Alexander of Vevey, Vicar of the Diocese, as well as numerous clergy who came from different cities in Switzerland. Faithful gathered from all corners of the Geneva Riviera, joined by honoured guests, among whom were several professors of the theological faculty of the University of Fribourg and numerous Orthodox students, all sharing in the joy of the Holy Parish of St Barbara.
At the Little Entrance of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Irenei awarded Deacon Vladimir Svistun, a cleric of the Geneva Cathedral, the right to wear the double orarion. Later in the Liturgy, at the insertion of the Litany for the Resposed, the clergy and faithful prayed for the souls of the parish’s departed hierarchs, clergy and deceased parishioners, as well as the newly-reposed Archpriest Thomas Hardy, the eldest clergyman of our Diocese, whose funeral was being served in London on the same day.
The feastday also marked a significant occasion for the parish: the priestly ordination of Deacon Aviv Saliou-Diallo, performed by His Grace Bishop Alexander of Vevey. Following the Liturgy, a festive procession with a sprinkling of holy water took place. At the grave of the much-loved bishop Ambrose (Cantacuzen), Eternal Memory was proclaimed.
After the prayers, Bishop Irenei addressed the faithful with a homily, in which he expressed true joy not only on the occasion of the festal Divine Liturgy, where bread and wine were transformed into the life-giving Holy Gifts, but also in connection with the ordination that had been performed, which touches on the spiritual life of every parishioner and the community as a whole — the historic parish now possessing in its Altar all three ranks of the clergy: a bishop, a priest and a deacon.
His Grace congratulated Protodeacon Michel Vernaz, the clergyman of the Holy Barbara Church, on the anniversary of the ordination, and also presented the elder parishioner and regent of the choir, Olga Igorevna Englert, as well as Ms Sophia Skalichi, with benedictory Grammotas for their many years of work for the good of the Church. On behalf of the parish, the Bishop of Vevey, Alexander, thanked the Bishop Irenei for his presence at the feastday.
Friendly communication between the guests and the clergy continued at a hearty meal prepared by the ranks of the local sisterhood. Addressing Priest Aviv, His Grace Bishop Irenei, referring to the grace of the Holy Spirit that descended in his heart that day, called on the cleric to be a worthy example for believers, ‘in word, life, love, spirit, faith, purity’ (cf. 1 Tim 4.12 ). In turn, His Grace Bishop Alexander expressed special gratitude to the mother and wife of the newly-made priest, emphasizing the importance of their bearing of the Cross with him, and support in the daily service of the Orthodox pastor. The new priest himself turned to the bishops, clergy and parishioners with the request of holy prayers and moral support in the upcoming obedience and responsibility assigned to him by the Holy Church on this day.
