14 / 27 JUNE 2021, ZURICH (Switzerland): On the Sunday of All Saints, a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was served in the Holy Protection Parish of Zurich in Switzerland. With the blessing of the Ruling Bishop, His Grace Irenei of London and Western Europe, the Diocese’s Vicar Bishop, His Grace Alexander of Vevey, made an archpastoral visitation to the parish, where His Grace was co-served by the parish’s clergymen, Archpriest Peter Sturm and Deacon Vladimir Svystun.
On the eve of the Sunday of All Saints, Vladyka Alexander led the All-Night Vigil. After the service, ‘Many years!’ was proclaimed for Matushka Elizabeth Sturm on the occasion of her birthday. Addressing her, Bishop Alexander wished her spiritual and physical strength, that she might continue zealously to serve the parish, as the trusted right-hand of her husband, the Parish Rector.
On Sunday morning, the Vicar of the Diocese of Great Britain and Western Europe was solemnly greeted at the entrance to the temple, where the maximum permitted number of worshipers were gathered for prayer, including a significant number of children and youth. Nearly the entire parish received Holy Communion on this day, and the Divine Services were adorned with skilful singing by the parish choir, under the direction of Subdeacon Nikolai Bankul.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop Alexander addressed the gathered faithful with a sermon. ‘This first Sunday after Pentecost is dedicated to the memory of All Saints,’ said the preacher, ‘and there is a logical connection between today’s holiday and the day of Pentecost, because holiness is the work of the Holy Spirit. Holiness is the fruit of Pentecost.’ His Grace pointed out that for every baptised Christian who has received the ‘seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit’ in the Sacrament of Chrismation, holiness becomes a logical and natural development of the whole Christian life, and not an exclusive state reserved for those whom the Church glorifies as martyrs, Church Fathers or saints. With reference to the lives of all such saints, inspired and filled with the blessed gifts of the Paraclete, Bishop Alexander urged every believer to strive constantly to lead a holy and righteous life.
At the end of the Divine Services, the Parish Rector, Archpriest Peter Sturm, spoke on behalf of the community, expressing deep gratitude to the Diocesan Vicar for his labours and the prayerful liturgical joy the parishioners felt at the solemn episcopal service.
As has become a tradition at the parish, the conclusion of the Divine Services was followed by a general gathering marking the forthcoming advent of the Fast of the Holy Apostles. Gathering in Kirchberg, near Wiel, where the family of the Father-Rector lives, almost the entire Zurich parish assembled in the fresh air in the countryside, surrounded by a panoramic view. The faithful and clergy not only strengthened themselves with a hearty meal in preparation for the lenten period, but also had the opportunity to carry on conversations that enriched their souls for the spiritual works ahead.

14 / 27.06.2021. ЦЮРИХ (Швейцария): В неделю Всех Святых в Свято-Покровском приходе Цюриха в Швейцарии состоялось богослужение архиерейским чином. По благословению Управляющего епархией Преосвященнейшего Иринея, епископа Лондонского и Западно-Европейского, приход посетил викарный епископ Вевейский Александр. Его Преосвященству сослужили клирики прихода протоиерей Петр Штурм и диакон Владимир Свистун.
Вечером намедни дня Всех Святых владыка Александр возглавил Всенощное Бдение. После богослужения матушке Елизавете Штурм по случаю ее дня рождения было провозглашено Многолетие. Обращаясь к имениннице, Владыка Александр пожелал ей крепости духовной и телесной, чтобы и далее ревностно продолжать служение приходу, помогая в ежедневных пастырских трудах настоятелю о. Петру.
Утром в воскресный день викарий Великобританской и Западно-Европейской епархии был торжественно встречен у входа в храм, в который для молитвы собралось максимально разрешенное количество молящихся, среди которых значительное число детей и подростков. Почти весь приход приобщился в этот день Святых Христовых Тайн. Богослужение украшало искусное пение хора под управлением иподиакона Николая Банкула.
После Литургии со словом проповеди к верующим обратился епископ Александр. «Это первое воскресенье после Пятидесятницы посвящено памяти Всех святых. Существует логическая связь между сегодняшним праздником и днем Пятидесятницы, потому что святость – это творение Святого Духа, святость – это плод Пятидесятницы» – подчеркнул проповедник. Его Преосвященство указал, что для каждого крещенного христианина, получившего в Таинстве Миропомазания «печать дара Духа Святого», святость не является исключительным состоянием, предназначенным для тех, кого Церковь прославляет в лике мучеников, Отцов Церкви или святителей, но логическим и естественным развитием всей христианской жизни. Взирая на жизнь всех святых, вдохновленных и преисполненных благодатных даров Параклита, епископ Александр призвал каждого верующего ежечасно устремляться к ведению святой праведной жизни.
По завершении богослужения настоятель прихода протоиерей Петр Штурм выразил от имени общины глубокую признательность викарному владыке за понесенные труды и молитвенную литургическую радость, которую чувствовали прихожане на торжественном архиерейском богослужении.
Традиционно по завершении молитвы, в Кирхберге около Виля, где проживает семья отца-настоятеля, было совершено общее заговенье на Петров Пост, куда собрался почти весь цюрихский приход. Находясь на свежем воздухе в сельской местности, в окружении пасторального панорамного вида, верующие и духовенство не только подкрепили свои физические силы, но и имели возможность продолжить взаимно обогащающее духовное общение.
