6 / 19 DECEMBER 2023: On the winter feast of St Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra in Lycia, His Eminence Metropolitan Silouan (Oner), Ruling Hierarch of the Antiochian Archdiocese of the British Isles and Ireland, visited the London Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God and the Holy Royal Martyrs and concelebrated the festal Divine Liturgy with His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe.
Co-serving the Hierarchs for the feastday were the clergy of the Cathedral, the Very Reverend Archpriests Vitaly Serapinas and Yaroslav Hudymenko and the Reverend Deacons Andrei Borisas and Sergei Baranov. Joining them was the reverend Deacon Ismagilov, who arrived together with Metropolitan Silouan.
Having accepted the invitation of Bishop Irenei to join the Cathedral community for the feastday, Metropolitan Silouan was greeted at the gates by the starosta with the traditional bread and salt, before being vested in the middle of the Cathedral. The festal Divine Liturgy proceeded in a spirit of great joy, concelebrated by the two hierarchs, as the visiting and local clergy led the faithful in their prayers to God and in honour of the beloved St Nicholas. As a feast of deep veneration for all Orthodox Christians, of all nationalities and ethnicities, the occasion to pray together on this day was a clear source of comfort and happiness for all.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy a moleben was served before the icon of St Nicholas, after which Bishop Irenei warmly greeted his distinguished guest, expressing his joy at the opportunity to pray together in the Holy Altar, and his gratitude for the warm fraternal relations that exist between the Church Abroad and the Patriarchate of Antioch, and in particular between the Diocese’s region of the British Isles and Metropolitan Silouan’s diocese in the same region.
After the veneration of the Cross by the faithful, a festal banquet was served in honour of St Nicholas in the Cathedral hall. The two hierarchs then met privately to discuss various matters relating to their shared pastoral work in the British Isles.

6 / 19 ДЕКАБРЯ 2023 г.: В зимний праздник святителя Николая, Мирликийского чудотворца, Высокопреосвященнейший митрополит Силуан (Онер), Правящий архиерей Антиохийской епархии Британских островов и Ирландии, посетил лондонский кафедральный собор Рождества Пресвятой Богородицы и святых Царственных мучеников и сослужил праздничную Божественную литургию с Преосвященнейшим епископом Лондонским и Западно-Европейским Иринеем.
К архиереям присоединились соборные клирики протоиереи Виталий Серапинас и Ярослав Гудыменко, а также диакон Андрей Борисас. На Литургии сослужил диакон Исмагилов, прибывший вместе с митрополитом Силуаном.
Приняв приглашение от епископа Иринея присоединиться к соборной общине на праздник, митрополит Силуан был встречен у ворот храма старостой с традиционным хлебом-солью и облачен в середине собора. Праздничная Божественная литургия прошла в духе великой радости, ее сослужили два иерарха, а приезжее и местное духовенство возглавило верующих в молитвах к Богу и в честь возлюбленного святителя. Праздник, имеющий глубокое почитание у православных христиан всех национальностей и народностей, а также возможность совместной молитвы в этот день, были явным источником утешения и счастья для всех верующих.
По окончании Литургии перед иконой святителя Николая был отслужен молебен, после чего епископ Ириней тепло приветствовал высокого гостя, выразив радость по случаю возможности совместной молитвы в Алтаре Господнем, а также выразил благодарность за теплые братские отношения, которые сложились и существуют между Зарубежной Церковью и Антиохийским Патриархатом, и в частности между нашей епархией и епархией митрополита Силуана, расположенных в одном и том же регионе.
По случаю праздника, после богослужения в соборном зале состоялась трапеза. Затем два иерарха встретились наедине, чтобы обсудить различные вопросы, касающиеся их общей пастырской деятельности и православной миссии на Британских островах.
