St Edmund's Parish in Bury St Edmunds, England, will host a Community and Youth Weekend from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th April 2026, to mark a significant milestone of the Mission Parish's growth: its move into its new home — the historic Cemetery Chapel in the city.
Dedicating the weekend to the life, mission and legacy of St Edmund, events will include Divine Services in the historic church; talks on the nature of Holy Orthodoxy as well as St Edmund and his connection to the region which has been a centre of Orthodoxy since the early seventh century; processions and visits to historical sites in Bury St Edmunds; activities for youth and children, and other events.
All are invited! Fuller information, provided by the parish, is found below:
Our Mission: Ancient Roots, Living Faith
As part of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) in Suffolk, the St Edmund’s Mission aims to provide a spiritual home for Orthodox Christians of all backgrounds and ethnicities — helping restore Orthodoxy back to this local community in a region which is deeply rooted in Christian history (since the early 7th century).
Whether you are a lifelong Orthodox Christian, seeker, or simply curious about our new presence in the chapel, you are warmly welcome.
Community Weekend Schedule
We have curated a weekend of prayer, fellowship, and learning. Highlights include talks by Hieromonk Theodore, from the London Cathedral, and a pilgrimage to the historic Abbey Gardens & Ruins.

Join Us
Our doors are open to everyone. Orthodoxy is a 'come and see' faith, and there is no better time to visit than during this joyful celebration.
Location: The Cemetery Chapel, off Kings Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 3DT.
Hospitality: As is our tradition, we invite you to participate in our 'bring & share' meals. Your presence is the greatest gift, but a dish or drink to share with the community is always appreciated.
We look forward to welcoming old friends and new faces as we begin this blessed new chapter in the heart of Suffolk. Through the prayers of Holy Great-Martyr Edmund, may our mission flourish!
