From the 4th to the 12th of October 2025, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, a pilgrimage took place to the holy sites of Cyprus, led by the Rector of the Holy Trinity Parish in Bern, Priest Vladimir Svystun. The nine days spent on this blessed island became for the parishioners from the Swiss capital and from other parishes of the German-speaking region of Switzerland a true spiritual journey — a time of prayer, fellowship, and contact with ancient sites of Christian sanctity.
Each day was filled with new impressions, prayer, and encounters with holy places through which the Lord abundantly revealed His grace. On the very first Sunday, 5th October, the pilgrims took part in the Divine Liturgy in the ancient Church of Saint Lazarus the Four-Days-Dead — one of the most venerated temples of Larnaca. After the service, the group became acquainted with other holy sites of the city and had the opportunity to rest by the sea.
A special place in the programme was devoted to visiting monasteries and churches connected with the names of great ascetics: Saint Neophytos the Recluse, Equal-of-the-Apostles St Thekla, as well as the monasteries of Stavrovouni and Machairas. In every place prayers were offered and hearts were filled with gratitude for the opportunity to touch the living history of the Orthodox Faith.
One of the most memorable days of the journey was the pilgrimage to the renowned Kykkos Monastery, where is preserved the wonderworking icon of the Mother of God painted by the Holy Apostle Luke. The pilgrims also visited the monasteries of Trooditissa and of the Holy Cross, where are kept portions of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord, bestowed by the Equal-of-the-Apostles St Helen, together with the relics of God’s saints.
On Saturday, 11th October, the participants were able to visit the northern part of the island, where are located ancient churches and monasteries situated on territory divided between communities. The programme concluded with prayer at the tomb of the Holy Apostle Barnabas, the founder of the Church of Cyprus.
In the final days, the pilgrims had the opportunity to rest by the sea, to reflect upon all that they had experienced, and to give thanks to God for the spiritual gifts of the journey. On the morning of 12th October, the group departed from Larnaca and returned safely to Geneva, carrying home bright memories, renewed strength, and prayerful inspiration.
‘Each day was special,’ shared one of the pilgrims. ‘We felt that the Lord was leading us from one holy place to another, from joy to thanksgiving.’ Added another: ‘This journey united us as one spiritual family. We prayed, rejoiced, helped one another, and return home with peace in our hearts.’
С 4 по 12 октября 2025 года по благословению Преосвященнейшего епископа Лондонского и Западно-Европейского Иринея, во главе с настоятелем Свято-Троицкого прихода в Берне иереем Владимиром Свистуном, состоялось паломничество бернского Свято-Троицкого прихода по святым местам Кипра. Девять дней, проведённые на благословенном острове, стали для прихожан из столичного города и иных приходов немецкоязычной части Швейцарии настоящим духовным путешествием — временем молитвы, общения и прикосновения к древним христианским святыням.
Каждый день был наполнен новыми впечатлениями, молитвой и встречами со святынями, через которые Господь особенно щедро являл Свою благодать. Уже в первый воскресный день 5 октября паломники приняли участие в Божественной литургии в древней церкви святого Лазаря Четверодневного — одном из самых почитаемых храмов Ларнаки. После богослужения группа познакомилась с другими святынями города и смогла отдохнуть у моря.
Особое место в программе заняло посещение монастырей и храмов, связанных с именами великих подвижников: святого Неофита Затворника, равноапостольной Феклы, а также монастырей Ставровуни и Махера. В каждом месте звучала молитва, а сердца наполнялись благодарностью за возможность прикоснуться к живой истории православной веры.
Одним из самых запоминающихся дней стало паломничество в знаменитый Киккский монастырь, где хранится чудотворная икона Божией Матери, написанная апостолом Лукой. Паломники также посетили монастыри Троодитисса и Святого Креста, где пребывают частицы животворящего Креста Господня, подаренные св. равноапостольной Еленой, и святые мощи угодников Божиих.
В субботу 11 октября участники смогли посетить и северную часть острова, где находятся древние храмы и монастыри, расположенные на территории, разделённой между общинами. Окончанием программы стала молитва у гробницы апостола Варнавы – основателя Кипрской Церкви.
В заключительные дни паломники имели возможность отдохнуть на берегу моря, поразмышлять о пережитом и поблагодарить Бога за духовные дары путешествия. Утром 12 октября группа вылетела из Ларнаки и благополучно вернулась в Женеву, увозя с собой светлые воспоминания, новые силы и молитвенное вдохновение.
«Каждый день был особенным. Мы чувствовали, что Господь ведёт нас от святыни к святыне, от радости к благодарности», — поделилась одна из участниц паломничества. «Эта поездка объединила нас как одну духовную семью. Мы молились, радовались, помогали друг другу и возвращаемся домой с миром в сердце», — добавила другая участница.
