8 / 21 NOVEMBER 2025: On the feastday of the Archangel Michael, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Geneva Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross by the Ruling Bishop, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, in concelebration with His Eminence Archbishop Michael, former hierarch of the Diocese residing in its territory in retirement. Co-serving their Graces were a host of the clergy from across the Diocese, who had gathered together during the preceding two days for their clergy pastoral convocation.
More than fifty clergymen had assembled in Geneva for the convocation, and on Friday morning they gathered together in the Cathedral to greet the wonderworking Kursk-root icon, and after it their Archpastor. During the reading of the Hours, the pious Altar Server of the Cathedral, son of its Archpriest Emilian, Michael Pochinok, was tonsured as a Reader.
At the conclusion of the Hours, Vladyka Irenei was joined in the centre of the temple by Vladyka Michael and the clergy for the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, which was beautifully sung by the Cathedral’s talented choir. During the Litany for the departed, the memory of the newly-reposed Protodeacon Nikolai Mokhov, one of the longest serving Deacons of the ROCOR whose familial origins lay in Europe, was lifted up in prayer, together with petitions for the solders of the White Army who served at Gallipoli.
A sermon was offered before the reception of holy communion by Priest Vassily Orékhoff, who serves in the Memorial Church in Brussels, Belgium.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the Archdeacon intoned ‘Many Years’ for the many clergy celebrating their namesday: Archbishop Michael, Archpriest Michael Goudkoff, Protodeacon Michel Vernaz, Deacon Michael Artzemovich, Readers Michael Romash and Michael Pochinok. Bishop Irenei wished his predecessor and all those celebrating their heavenly patron strength and health from God.
A banquet followed the Liturgy, at which the hierarchs continued their communion with the clergy of the Diocese, before all took the blessing of the Kursk-root icon and departed homewards to their parishes. The sacred icon itself will be taken next to the island of Ireland, where over the coming days it will visit parishes in both the Republic and Northern Ireland, before being taking to England for the final week of its sojourn across the Diocese.
8 / 21 НОЯБРЯ 2025 г.: В праздник Архангела Михаила Божественная литургия была совершена в Женевском Воздвиженском кафедральном соборе Правящим архиереем, Преосвященным епископом Лондонским и Западно-Европейским Иринеем, в сослужении с Высокопреосвященнейшим архиепископом Михаилом, пребывающим на покое и проживающим на территории епархии. С архиереями сослужил сонм духовенства из различных уголков епархии, собравшегося в Женеве в предшествующие два дня на пастырское совещание.
Более пятидесяти священнослужителей прибыли в Женеву на данное совещание и в пятничное утро собрались в кафедральном соборе, чтобы встретить чудотворную Курско-коренную икону Божией Матери, а затем и своего архипастыря. Во время чтения Часов благочестивый прислужник собора, Михаил Починок, сын протоиерея Емилиана, был пострижен в Чтецы.
По окончании Часов владыке Иринею в середине храма присоединились владыка Михаил и духовенство для начала Божественной литургии, прекрасно исполняемой талантливым хором собора. Во время ектении об усопших была вознесена молитвенная память о новопреставленном протодиаконе Николае Мохове, одном из наиболее долговременно служивших диаконов РПЦЗ, корни семьи которого восходят к Европе; также были вознесены прошения о воинах Белой армии, служивших в Галлиполи.
Проповедь перед причащением Святых Христовых Таин произнес иерей Василий Орехов, из храма памятника в Брюсселе, Бельгия.
По окончании Литургии архидиакон возгласил «Многая Лета» многим клирикам, празднующим день своего небесного покровителя: архиепископу Михаилу, протоиерею Михаилу Гудкову, протодиакону Михаилу Верна, диакону Михаилу Арцемовичу, чтецам Михаилу Ромаш и Михаилу Починок. Владыка Ириней пожелал своему предшественнику и всем празднующим день памяти своего небесного покровителя крепости и здравия от Бога.
После Литургии состоялась праздничная трапеза, на которой архиереи продолжили общение с духовенством епархии, после чего все получили благословение от Курско-коренной иконы и разъехались по своим приходам. Сама чудотворная икона направляется далее на остров Ирландия, где в ближайшие дни посетит приходы как Республики, так и Северной Ирландии, прежде чем будет доставлена в Англию для последней недели своего пребывания в пределах Епархии.
8 / 21 NOVEMBRE 2025 : En la fête de l’Archange Michel, la Divine Liturgie fut célébrée dans la cathédrale genevoise de l’Exaltation de la Croix par l’évêque diocésain, Son Excellence Monseigneur Irénée, évêque de Londres et d’Europe occidentale, en concélébration avec Son Éminence l’Archevêque Michel, ancien hiérarque du diocèse qui réside sur son territoire dans la retraite. Leurs Excellences étaient entourées d’un nombreux clergé venu de toute l’éparchie, rassemblé à Genève au cours des deux jours précédents pour leur convocation pastorale.
Plus de cinquante clercs s’étaient réunis à Genève pour cette convocation et, le vendredi matin, ils se rassemblèrent dans la cathédrale pour accueillir la miraculeuse icône de la Mère de Dieu de Koursk « de la racine », puis leur archipasteur. Pendant la lecture des Heures, le pieux servant d’autel de la cathédrale, Michel Pochinok, fils de l’archiprêtre Émilian, fut tonsuré Lecteur.
À la conclusion des Heures, Monseigneur Irénée fut rejoint au centre de l’église par Monseigneur Michel et le clergé pour le commencement de la Divine Liturgie, magnifiquement chantée par le talentueux chœur de la cathédrale. Lors de l’ecténie des défunts, la mémoire du tout récemment défunt protodiacre Nicolas Mokhov — l’un des diacres les plus anciens dans le service de l’Église russe hors frontières, dont les racines familiales se trouvent en Europe — fut élevée dans la prière, de même que les supplications pour les soldats de l’Armée blanche qui servirent à Gallipoli.
Une homélie fut prononcée avant la communion par le prêtre Vassili Orékhoff, qui sert à l’Église Mémorial de Bruxelles, en Belgique.
À la fin de la Liturgie, l’archidiacre entonna le « Многая Лета » pour les nombreux clercs célébrant leur fête onomastique : l’archevêque Michel, l’archiprêtre Michel Goudkoff, le protodiacre Michel Vernaz, le diacre Michel Artzemovich, les lecteurs Michel Romash et Michel Pochinok. Monseigneur Irénée souhaita à son prédécesseur et à tous ceux qui célébraient leur saint patron force et santé de la part de Dieu.
Après la Liturgie, un banquet eut lieu, au cours duquel les hiérarques poursuivirent leur communion avec le clergé diocésain, avant que tous ne reçoivent la bénédiction de l’icône de Koursk et ne regagnent leurs paroisses. Quant à la sainte icône, elle sera emmenée ensuite sur l’île d’Irlande, où, dans les prochains jours, elle visitera des paroisses tant de la République que de l’Irlande du Nord, avant d’être conduite en Angleterre pour la dernière semaine de son séjour à travers l’Éparchie.
