The Visit of the Myrrh-Streaming ‘Hawaiian’ Icon to Europe Has Begun Amidst Enormous Numbers of Faithful in Zurich. | Посещение мироточивой «Гавайской» иконы в Европе началось при огромном стечении верующих в Цюрихе.

FRIDAY, 19 OCTOBER / 1 NOVEMBER 2024: On the Feastday of St John of Kronstadt, the Diocese solemnly welcomed into Europe the Myrrh-streaming ‘Hawaiian’-Iveron icon of the Most Holy Mother of God. Arriving from North America into Zurich, the icon was greeted by His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, who also warmly received the Reverend Priest Nectary Yangson, cleric of the Church Abroad’s parish in Hawaii and keeper of the icon, and welcomed him to the Diocese.

A special beginning to the icon’s first-ever visit to Western Europe then took place in Zurich. By fraternal arrangement between Bishop Irenei and His Eminence Metropolitan Nestor of Korsun, a moleben before the Hawaiian icon was served in the Resurrection Parish of the Korsun Diocese, in the heart of the city. The rite was headed by Vladyka Irenei, together with clergy from both dioceses; and at the end of the moleben, clergy and faithful together made a procession through the city, from the Diocese of Korsun’s Resurrection Parish to the Church Abroad’s Pokrov Parish, where prayers before the icon continued with the chanting of an Akafist to the Theotokos.

Hundreds upon hundreds of faithful poured into the churches and streets of Zurich, easily overwhelming the space of both temples and gathering in courtyards and outdoors — numbers never before seen. Pilgrims came to be present from Romania, Germany, Serbia, Ireland, Ukraine, and all across Europe. Many tears of joy were shed before the precious icon of the Mother of God, and throngs of faithful were anointed with the myrrh that streamed forth from it during the services in Zurich.

Following those services, a meal was served for clergy from the two parishes, as faithful continued to come forth in droves to pray before the icon.

Bishop Irenei and the clergy later departed for Bern, where the following morning the icon will be present in the oldest parish in Switzerland during a significant anniversary in that parish’s life.

ПЯТНИЦА, 19 ОКТЯБРЯ / 1 НОЯБРЯ 2024 г.: В день памяти св. Иоанна Кронштадтского епархия торжественно встретила в Европе чудотворную мироточивую «Гавайскую»-Иверскую икону Пресвятой Богородицы. Прибытие иконы из Северной Америки в Цюрих было встречено Его Преосвященством епископом Лондонским и Западно-Европейским Иринеем, который сердечно приветствовал сопроводителя святыни иерея Нектария Янгсона, клирика прихода Зарубежной Церкви на Гавайских островах, и приветствовал его в пределах епархии.

В Цюрихе состоялось особое начало первого визита иконы в Западную Европу. По братскому соглашению между епископом Иринеем и митрополитом Корсунским Нестором, в Воскресенском приходе Корсунской епархии, в самом сердце города, был совершен молебен перед Гавайской иконой. Чин возглавил владыка Ириней вместе с духовенством обеих епархий, и в конце молебна духовенство и верующие вместе совершили крестный ход по городу от прихода Корсунской епархии к храму Покрова Богородицы, Зарубежной Церкви, где молитвы перед иконой продолжились с пением Акафиста Пресвятой Богородице.

Сотни и сотни верующих стекались в храмы и на улицы Цюриха, заполнив собой не только внутреннее пространство церквей, но и собравшись во дворах и на открытых площадках — такое множество ранее не наблюдалось. Паломники прибыли из Румынии, Германии, Сербии, Ирландии, Украины и со всей Европы, чтобы присутствовать на этом событии. Множество слез радости было пролито перед драгоценной иконой Матери Божией, и сотни верующих были помазаны миром, которое струилось из образа во время богослужений в Цюрихе.

После Акафиста для духовенства обеих приходов была организована общая трапеза, в то время как верующие продолжали приходить толпами, чтобы помолиться перед чудотворной святыней.
