MONDAY 30 SEPTEMBER / 13 OCTOBER 2025: The wonderworking Kursk-root icon of the Mother of God, Directress of the Orthodox Diaspora and the most revered icon of the ROCOR, has been solemnly welcomed into the Diocese of Great Britain and Western Europe with festive services in Zurich, Switzerland.
Having departed from the Synodal residence in Manhattan with the blessing of the First Hierarch, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, the cleric of the Geneva Cathedral, Archpriest Emilian Pocinok, bore the sacred image from New York to Switzerland, where it was greeted at the Zurich airport by clergy and faithful of the Pokrov Parish in the city. The icon was then taken to the parish, which has been ministering in Zurich for nearly a century, where it was formally greeted by the Ruling Hierarch, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, and the retired diocesan Hierarch, Archbishop Michael. The sacred image was then enshrined in the centre of the small temple and the evening services prayed before it.
Following the conclusion of the evening services — dedicated to the Feast of Pokrov, the Protection of the Theotokos, which is celebrated the next day — the Kursk-root icon was borne aloft in a procession through the streets of Zurich, accompanied by the Bishops, clergy, faithful and city officials, arriving in due course at the Holy Trinity Church of the Korsun Diocese. There the icon was greeted by yet more faithful and clergy, and a moleben with akathist was sung before the sacred image, so dear to Orthodox faithful across the whole world.
The arrival in Zurich marks the beginning of the eight-week visitation of the icon to the parishes of Western Europe and the British Isles. The schedule of the icon’s movements may be found here.
Tomorrow, the sacred image will reside in the Zurich temple for the Divine Liturgy of the Feast of the Protection — the Altar Feast of the Parish — after which it will travel to Basel.

ПОНЕДЕЛЬНИК, 30 СЕНТЯБРЯ / 13 ОКТЯБРЯ 2025 г.: Чудотворная Курская-коренная икона Божией Матери — Путеводительница Православного рассеяния и величайшая святыня Русской Зарубежной Церкви — была торжественно встречена в Великобританской и Западно-Европейской епархии праздничными богослужениями в швейцарском городе Цюрихе.
По благословению Первоиерарха, Высокопреосвященнейшего митрополита Николая, святыня была перенесена из Нью-Йорка в Швейцарию клириком Женевского кафедрального собора протоиереем Емилианом Починком. В Цюрихском аэродроме икону встретили духовенство и верующие Покровского прихода города. Оттуда святой образ был принесен в храм, который уже почти столетие окормляет православных жителей Цюриха, где икону торжественно встретили Правящий архиерей — Преосвященнейший епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский Ириней, а также почивший на покое архиерей епархии, архиепископ Михаил. Святыня была установлена в центре храма, и перед ней совершены вечерние богослужения.
По окончании богослужений Курская-коренная икона была вознесена для крестного хода по улицам Цюриха. В шествии приняли участие архиереи, духовенство, верующие и представители городских властей. Крестный ход завершился у храма Святой Троицы Корсунской епархии, где святой образ был встречен многочисленными верующими и духовенством Патриархата, после чего перед ним был совершен молебен с акафистом этой всесвятой иконе, глубоко чтимой православными по всему миру.
Прибытие иконы в Цюрих ознаменовало начало восьминедельного пребывания святыни в приходах Западной Европы и Британских островов. График передвижения иконы можно найти здесь.
Завтра святой образ пребудет в цюрихском храме для совершения Божественной литургии праздника Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы — престольный праздник прихода, — после чего направится в Базель.

LUNDI 30 SEPTEMBRE / 13 OCTOBRE 2025 : L’icône miraculeuse de la Mère de Dieu de Koursk, Directrice de la Diaspora orthodoxe et principale icône de l’Église hors-frontières, a été accueillie solennellement dans le diocèse de Grande-Bretagne et d’Europe occidentale par des offices festifs à Zurich, en Suisse.
Partie de la résidence synodale à Manhattan avec la bénédiction du Primat, Son Éminence le métropolite Nicolas, la sainte icône a été transportée de New York en Suisse par l’archiprêtre Émilien Pocinok, clerc de la cathédrale de Genève. À son arrivée à l’aéroport de Zurich, l'icône a été reçue par le clergé et les fidèles de la paroisse de la Protection de la Mère de Dieu. Elle a ensuite été portée à cette paroisse, qui œuvre à Zurich depuis près d’un siècle, où elle a été officiellement accueillie par l’evêque diocésain, Monseigneur Irénée de Londres et d’Europe occidentale, ainsi que par l’archevêque Michel, hiérarque émérite du diocèse. La sainte image a été déposée au centre du petit temple, et les offices du soir ont été célébrés devant elle.
À la fin des offices — dédiées à la fête de la Protection de la Très Sainte Mère de Dieu, célébrée le lendemain — l’icône de Koursk a été portée en procession dans les rues de Zurich, accompagnée des évêques, du clergé, des fidèles et des représentants de la ville. La procession s’est achevée à l’église de la Sainte-Trinité du diocèse de Chersonèse, où la sainte icône a été accueillie par de nombreux fidèles et par le clergé patriarcal. Un moleben et un acathiste ont alors été chantés devant cette image vénérée par les orthodoxes du monde entier.
L’arrivée à Zurich marque le début de la visite de l’icône, qui durera huit semaines et couvrira les paroisses d’Europe occidentale et des Îles britanniques. Le calendrier détaillé de la visite peut être consulté ici.
Demain, la sainte icône demeurera dans l’église de Zurich pour la célébration de la divine liturgie de la fête de la Protection — fête patronale de la paroisse — après quoi elle se rendra à Bâle.
