WEDNESDAY 23 OCTOBER / 5 NOVEMBER 2025: The Kursk-root icon has today visited the faithful of the Archangel Michael Parish in Cannes, France.
The day began with a wonderful event of prayer: the sacred icon was taken to the ROCOR’s historic Archangel Michael Church in Cannes, before which a moleben with akathist to the Mother of God was served by His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, together with clergy from the region, after the icon had been taken into the temple and its Altar, and then in procession around its exterior, blessing it anew with the grace of the Mother of God and her Son.
This moment was particularly potent for the clergy and faithful, as political questions over property matters have meant that the beautiful church structure has been closed for access and not functioning as a liturgical centre of prayer for several years. While productive efforts are underway, aided by fraternal assistance from representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate, to restore the church to its historic home in the ROCOR, clergy and faithful of the longstanding parish are currently worshipping in the Chapelle de Notre Dame de l’Assomption in nearby Mandelieu-la-Napoule. That today they, aided by the heavenly intercessions of God’s Mother, were able to see the sacred icon enter into the temple, and then pray before it at the threshold of their proper church building, was a profound joy and consolation; and all together lifted up their prayers for unity in the faith, an increase in brotherly love, and a cessation to all hostilities currently plaguing the world.
At the conclusion of the service, Bishop Irenei addressed the faithful with words of encouragement. ‘Today, the Mother of God makes a special visitation to this beautiful coast, and to this historic temple where for more than a century we have offered prayers to her Son. Let it be out fervent prayer, and the object of all our labours, that all divisions may be overcome by His mercy, and that by her ongoing guidance and blessing all those of pious heart may be joined again here in the worship of the True God, to His glory and the sanctification of the whole world!’
Following the visitation to the temple, the sacred Kursk-root icon was taken to visit the homes of faithful in the regions of Cannes and Antibes. This evening it will be taken to Menton where it will be present for the Altar Feast of the parish there.
СРЕДА, 23 ОКТЯБРЯ / 5 НОЯБРЯ 2025 г.: Сегодня чудотворная Курско-коренная икона Божией Матери посетила верующих прихода Архангела Михаила в Каннах, Франция.
День начался знаменательным молитвенным событием: чудотворная икона была принесена в исторический храм РПЦЗ, в честь Архангела Михаила в Каннах, где перед нею был совершен молебен с акафистом Пресвятой Богородице Его Преосвященством, епископом Лондонским и Западно-Европейским Иринеем, в сослужении духовенства региона. Предварительно святыня была внесена в сам храм и его алтарь, после чего совершено крестное шествие вокруг храма, во время которого здание вновь было благословлено благодатью Матери Божией и Ее Сына.
Этот момент был особенно трогательным для духовенства и верующих, ибо по политическим причинам, связанным с имущественными вопросами, прекрасное здание храма уже несколько лет закрыто и не используется как литургический центр молитвы. В настоящее время, при братском содействии представителей Московского Патриархата, предпринимаются действенные шаги к возвращению храма в историческое лоно Русской Зарубежной Церкви. Пока же духовенство и верующие многолетнего прихода совершают богослужения в часовне Богоматери Успения (Chapelle de Notre Dame de l’Assomption) в соседнем Мандельё-ла-Напуль. То, что ныне они, при небесном заступничестве Божией Матери, смогли видеть, как святая икона вновь вошла в храм, и вознести перед нею молитвы у порога своего собственного святого дома, стало для всех глубокой радостью и утешением; и вместе они вознесли молитвы о единстве в вере, об умножении братской любви и о прекращении всех вражд, от которых страдает нынешний мир.
По окончании богослужения Владыка Ириней обратился к верующим с назидательными словами: «Сегодня Пресвятая Богородица совершает особое посещение этого благословенного побережья и этого исторического храма, — сказал Владыка — где более века мы возносили молитвы к Ее Божественному Сыну. Да будет нашей горячей молитвой и целью всех наших трудов, чтобы всякое разделение было преодолено милостью Христовой, и чтобы по непрестанному водительству и благословению Пречистой Матери все благочестивые сердца вновь соединились здесь в богопоклонении Истинному Богу — во славу Его и во освящение всего мира!»
После молитвенного торжества в храме святая Курско-Коренная икона была принесена в дома верующих в Каннах и Антибе. Вечером святыня будет перенесена в Ментон, где пребудет на престольном празднике прихода.
MERCREDI 23 OCTOBRE / 5 NOVEMBRE 2025 : Aujourd’hui, la sainte et thaumaturge icône de la Mère de Dieu de Koursk « de la racine » a visité les fidèles de la paroisse de l’Archange Michel à Cannes, en France.
La journée a commencé par un merveilleux moment de prière : la sainte icône fut portée à l’église historique de l’Archange-Michel à Cannes, appartenant à l’Église Russe Hors-Frontières, où un moleben avec acathiste à la Mère de Dieu fut célébré par Son Éminence Monseigneur Irénée, évêque de Londres et d’Europe Occidentale, entouré du clergé de la région. Auparavant, l’icône avait été introduite dans le temple et dans son autel, puis une procession solennelle fit le tour de l’église, la bénissant de nouveau par la grâce de la Mère de Dieu et de Son divin Fils.
Ce moment fut d’une émotion particulière pour le clergé et les fidèles : en effet, pour des raisons politiques liées à des questions de propriété, le magnifique édifice est fermé depuis plusieurs années et ne peut plus servir de centre liturgique de prière. Tandis que des démarches actives sont entreprises, avec l’aide fraternelle de représentants du Patriarcat de Moscou, pour restituer l’église à son appartenance historique à l’Église Hors-Frontières, le clergé et les fidèles de cette ancienne paroisse célèbrent actuellement les offices dans la chapelle Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption à Mandelieu-la-Napoule, tout près de là. Aujourd’hui, grâce à l’intercession céleste de la Mère de Dieu, ils ont pu voir la sainte icône entrer à nouveau dans leur temple, et prier devant elle au seuil de leur propre église ; ce fut pour tous une joie et une consolation profondes. Ensemble, ils ont élevé leurs prières pour l’unité dans la foi, la croissance de l’amour fraternel et la cessation des hostilités qui affligent le monde contemporain.
À la fin de l’office, Monseigneur Irénée s’adressa aux fidèles par des paroles d’encouragement : « Aujourd’hui, la Mère de Dieu accomplit une visite particulière à ce beau littoral et à ce temple historique où, depuis plus d’un siècle, nous avons offert nos prières à son Fils. Que ce soit notre prière fervente, et l’objet de tous nos efforts, que toutes les divisions soient surmontées par Sa miséricorde, et que, par la direction et la bénédiction continues de la Très-Sainte, tous les cœurs pieux soient à nouveau unis ici dans l’adoration du vrai Dieu, pour Sa gloire et la sanctification du monde entier ! »
Après la prière dans l’église, la sainte icône de Koursk fut portée dans plusieurs foyers des fidèles des régions de Cannes et d’Antibes. Ce soir, elle sera transportée à Menton, où elle sera présente pour la fête patronale du paroisse.
