After many years of prayerful expectation, on Saturday, 13 / 25 October 2025, the Parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Luxembourg experienced an event of profound spiritual significance, filled with deep joy and reverent awe. With hearts overflowing with gratitude, the parish Rector and the faithful welcomed the wonderworking Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God — one of the most ancient and venerated sacred treasures of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
The greeting of the holy icon took place with great solemnity. A multitude of faithful, bearing banners and lighted candles, went forth into the street to receive the Most Holy Theotokos. Accompanied by the sound of sacred hymns and fervent prayers, the holy icon was carried in procession into the church, where a flower-adorned analoy had been lovingly and reverently prepared to receive it.
The Divine Services began with a moleben and akathist to the Mother of God ‘of the Sign’, composed in honour of the Kursk-Root Icon, and were followed by the celebration of the All-Night Vigil. The atmosphere in the church was filled with peace and grace, and the tears that glistened in the eyes of many bore witness to their profound emotion and heartfelt gratitude for this heavenly visitation.
On Sunday, following the Divine Liturgy, a procession with the icon was made around the church as a sign of blessing for the entire Orthodox community. Throughout the day, and until late in the evening, the parish Rector, Archpriest Ioan Grigoriță, together with a group of the faithful, visited the sick and elderly members of the parish, bringing them comfort, hope, and joy.
For Luxembourg, these days were a true spiritual feast — a joy akin to Pascha, an outpouring of light, faith, and love toward the Most Holy Mother of God. In the hearts of all who were present there remains an indelible memory, and the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul was filled with a heavenly peace — a sure sign of the presence of the Mother of God in the midst of her people.
On Monday, 27th October, after another moleben and akathist had been served, the sacred icon was lovingly and prayerfully conveyed to the Orthodox community in Brussels.
With deep gratitude we give glory to God, and we thank the Most Holy Mother of God for this grace-filled visitation, which united the entire Orthodox community of Luxembourg in prayer and joy.

После многих лет ожидания и молитв, в субботу, 13 / 25 октября 2025 года, приход святых апостолов Петра и Павла в Люксембурге пережил событие особой духовной значимости, исполненное глубокой радости и благоговейного трепета. С чувством благодарности и благоговения настоятель прихода вместе с многочисленными верующими встретили чудотворную Курско-Коренную икону Божией Матери — одну из древнейших и самых чтимых святынь Русской Православной Церкви Заграницей.
Встреча совершилась с особой торжественностью: множество верующих с хоругвями и зажжёнными свечами вышли на улицу, чтобы встретить Пресвятую Владычицу нашу Богородицу и Приснодеву Марию. Под звуки молитвенных песнопений и благоговейного пения икона была принесена крестным ходом в храм, где на украшенном цветами аналое все было приготовлено с любовью, усердием и верой.
Праздничное богослужение началось молебном и акафистом перед иконой Божией Матери «Знамение» Курско-Коренной, после чего было совершено Всенощное бдение. Атмосфера в храме была проникнута миром и благодатью; слёзы на глазах многих молящихся свидетельствовали о глубоком умилении и благодарении за этот дивный и небесный дар.
В воскресный день, по окончании Божественной литургии, состоялся крестный ход вокруг храма с чудотворным образом — как знамение благословения для всей православной общины. В течение всего дня, до позднего вечера, настоятель храма, протоиерей Иоанн Григорицэ, в сопровождении группы верующих посещал больных и престарелых прихожан, принося им утешение, надежду и духовную радость.
Для православных Люксембурга эти дни стали подлинным торжеством — радостью, сродни Пасхальной, излиянием света, веры и любви к Пресвятой Богородице. В сердцах всех, кто участвовал в этих святозарных днях, осталась неизгладимая память, а храм святых апостолов Петра и Павла наполнился небесным миром — знаменем присутствия Божией Матери среди своего народа.
В понедельник, 27 октября, после еще одного молебна и акафиста, икона была с молитвой и любовью передана православной общине города Брюсселя.
С глубокой признательностью возносим славу Богу и благодарим Пресвятую Богородицу за это благодатное посещение, объединившее в молитве и духовной радости всю православную общину Люксембурга.

Après de longues années d’attente et de prière, le samedi 13 / 25 octobre 2025, la paroisse des saints apôtres Pierre et Paul à Luxembourg a vécu un événement d’une portée spirituelle exceptionnelle, empreint d’une joie profonde et d’une vive émotion. Avec une gratitude sincère et une révérence fervente, le recteur de la paroisse, entouré d’un grand nombre de fidèles, a accueilli l’icône thaumaturge de la Mère de Dieu de Koursk, dite « de la Racine » — l’une des plus anciennes et des plus vénérées reliques de l’Église orthodoxe russe hors frontières.
La rencontre s’est déroulée dans une grande solennité : une foule de fidèles, portant bannières et cierges allumés, est sortie dans la rue pour accueillir la Très Sainte Mère de Dieu. Au son des chants liturgiques et des prières ferventes, l’icône a été portée en procession jusqu’à l’église, où tout avait été préparé avec amour, piété et dévotion, sur un analogion richement orné de fleurs.
La célébration a débuté par un molében et l’acathiste à la Mère de Dieu « du Signe » de Koursk, suivis d’une vigile solennelle. L’atmosphère dans l’église était toute pénétrée de paix et de grâce ; les larmes qui coulaient sur les visages de nombreux participants témoignaient de leur émotion spirituelle et de leur reconnaissance pour ce don céleste.
Le dimanche, après la divine liturgie, une procession autour de l’église a été accomplie avec l’icône, en signe de bénédiction pour toute la communauté orthodoxe. Tout au long de la journée, jusqu’à tard dans la soirée, le recteur, l’archiprêtre Ioan Grigoriță, accompagné d’un groupe de fidèles, a rendu visite aux malades et aux personnes âgées, leur apportant consolation, espérance et joie en la Mère de Dieu.
Pour le Luxembourg, ces jours furent une véritable fête — une joie comparable à celle de la sainte Pâque, un épanchement de lumière, de foi et d’amour envers la Très Sainte Mère de Dieu. Dans le cœur de tous ceux qui étaient présents est demeuré un souvenir ineffaçable, tandis que l’église des saints apôtres Pierre et Paul s’est emplie d’une paix céleste — signe manifeste de la présence de la Mère de Dieu au milieu de son peuple.
Le lundi 27 octobre, après un nouveau molében et la lecture de l’acathiste, l’icône a été transmise dans la prière et l’amour à la communauté orthodoxe de Bruxelles.
Animés d’une profonde gratitude, nous rendons gloire à Dieu et remercions Sa Très Sainte Mère pour cette visite spirituelle, qui a uni dans la prière et la joie toute la communauté orthodoxe du Luxembourg.
