4 / 17 AUGUST 2025: On the Sunday of the Seven Youths of Ephesus, following the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, the youth-leadership of the St Mary Magdalen Youth Group held their annual planning meeting at the London Cathedral.
The extremely-active youth group, which serves not only the Cathedral community but also coordinates many of the youth activities across the British Isles and in other parts of the Diocese, gathered together its most active members to review the activities of the past year, discuss plans for the year to come, and elect leaders from within its ranks to take up organisational roles for the year ahead.
Some of the activities organised by the London Youth Group over the past year have included the recently-concluded Diocesan Youth Pilgrimage to the Balkans; restoration of the church in St Leonard’s; the formation of a youth choir; regular weekly Divine Services and social activities; pilgrimages to several holy sites and parishes within the British Isles; involvement in operating the Cathedral food bank; pilgrimages to monasteries in Germany and coordination with the German Youth Group; hosting of the annual Diocesan Youth Conference in London; and many others.
Some of the plans for the year ahead, discussed at the meeting, include the continuation of the Youth Group’s hosting of regular balls, the organisation of service-pilgrimages to monasteries and parishes where practical labours can be undertaken by the youth, the founding of a youth journal for the Diocese, and several others.
Members of the organisational group thanked the Reader Nikolai Kuprianov, who for several years has served as president of the London Youth Group, which he helped to found, and who later this year departs to take up seminary studies in Jordanville. Reader Daniel Shadrin was elected as the group’s president for the coming year, together with a group of organisers committed to continuing the group’s activities and growth.
4 / 17 АВГУСТА 2025 г.: В день памяти семи отроков ефесских, по окончании архиерейской Божественной литургии, в Лондонском кафедральном соборе состоялось ежегодное собрание руководства Молодежнрй группы во имя святой равноапостольной Марии Магдалины.
Это чрезвычайно активное объединение, которое служит не только нуждам кафедрального собора, но и координирует многие молодежные мероприятия по всей территории Британских островов и в других частях епархии, собрало своих наиболее деятельных членов для подведения итогов минувшего года, обсуждения планов на грядущий и избрания новых руководителей из своей среды для организационного служения в наступающем году.
Среди мероприятий, осуществленных Лондонской молодежной группой в прошедшем году, следует отметить недавно завершившееся епархиальное молодежное паломничество на Балканы; работы по восстановлению храма в Сент-Леонардсе; создание молодежного хора; регулярные еженедельные богослужения и социальные встречи; паломничества по святым местам и приходам Британских островов; участие в труде приходского продовольственного фонда при кафедральном соборе; паломничества в монастыри Германии и координацию с Немецкой молодежной группой; проведение ежегодной епархиальной молодежного съезда в Лондоне, и многое другое.
В числе планов на будущий год, обсуждавшихся на собрании, — продолжение традиции проведения регулярных молодежных балов, организация трудовых паломничеств в монастыри и приходы с выполнением практических работ силами молодежи, основание молодежного журнала епархии и другие начинания.
Члены организационного совета выразили благодарность чтецу Николаю Куприянову, который в течение нескольких лет исполнял обязанности председателя Лондонской молодежной группы, был одним из ее основателей и в этом году отправляется на обучение в семинарию в Джорданвилле. Новым председателем объединения был избран чтец Даниил Шадрин.
