29 JUNE / 12 JULY 2025: The Feast of the Holy and All-Laudable Apostles Peter and Paul was marked in Luxembourg by a visitation of the Ruling Bishop, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe. The day being the Altar Feast of the Parish, the Divine Services were celebrated in a spirit of especial joy as the clergy and faithful together implored the sacred Apostles to continue to bless and guide the Church in Luxembourg and throughout the world.
Bishop Irenei travelled to Luxembourg with Deacon Pavel Lisitsin and Reader George Sultan, where they were received by the local Rector, the Very Reverend Archpriest Ioann Grigoriță. In the concelebration of the Divine Services, other clergy joined the Bishop in the Altar: Archpriest Stefan Weerts (from the Resurrection Parish, Brussels), Priest Pavel Golynski (Basel Parish), and a host of guest clergy from other parishes and dioceses.
The solemn All-Night Vigil of the Feast was sung beautifully by the parish choir, under the direction of Matushka Veronica, with a Litya for the Feast celebrated in the open air; after which Vladyka Irenei had the opportunity to spend the remainder of the evening with the local clergy, members of the Parish Council and other members of its administration. In the morning, following the blessings of the waters and the greeeting of the Bishop with the traditional bread and salt, the triumphant Liturgy in honour of the Apostles was served in the glorious Luxembourg temple — the gift to the faithful of the late and much-beloved Archpriest Sergius Poukh and his faithful wife, Matushka Emilia. There, in the beautiful walls of the church, the Bishop and clergy led the faithful in raising up their prayers to God, guided by Sts Peter and Paul, and drew them into communion by partaking together of the Divine Mysteries of Christ.
At the end of the Liturgy, Vladyka Irenei gave a homily in Russian and French on the reality of the Church as ‘apostolic’, which His Grace reminded the faithful is not only a fact of historical memory, but the ever-present reality of the Body of Christ, guided by apostolic Grace. ‘The Church is Apostolic,’ preached the Bishop, ‘because the Apostles truly fulfilled and fulfil the charge given to them by Christ: at their hands, successors were chosen, new men were called and anointed, and the Apostolic mission expanded into the the Church across the whole world, and across history. Even in these difficult latter days, the Hierarchy of the Church receives this grace, and Apostolic hands are laid in our day upon new heads, lifting up Apostolic successors and — through their sacred ministry — new Priests and Deacons that serve in the Altars of the Lord.’ Vladyka continued: ‘This is not ancient history: this is our present reality! And those first Apostles surely rejoice today and every day, in the heavenly places, beholding the continuation of the mission to which they so completely gave their earthly lives.’
Joyful congratulations were conveyed after the Liturgy and Cross Procession around the temple, and Father Ioann expressed his great happiness at the festal concelebration led by the Bishop, together with all the faithful flock of Luxembourg. ‘Eternal Memory’ was proclaimed for the founders of the parish, and ‘Many Years’ intoned for the Hierarchy, the Parish Council and faithful, and especially all those Peters and Pauls whose names day was being marked.
A luncheon followed on the grounds of the church, under the summer sun, during which the youth and children of the parish performed a wonderful musical concert in honour of the patronal feast day.
Bishop Irenei remains in Luxembourg throughout the weekend, where on Sunday he will serve again the Divine Liturgy, after which His Grace will lead a spiritual discussion with the Youth Group of the Luxembourg church.
29 ИЮНЯ / 12 ИЮЛЯ 2025 г.: Праздник святых славных и всехвальных первоверховных апостолов Петра и Павла было ознаменовано в Люксембурге архипастырским посещением Правящего архиерея — Преосвященнейшего епископа Лондонского и Западно-Европейского Иринея. В этот день приход торжественно отмечал свой престольный праздник, и Богослужения совершались в духе особой радости, когда клир и верующие единодушно возносили молитвы к святым Апостолам, прося их продолжать благословлять и направлять Церковь и в Люксембурге и по всему миру.
Епископ Ириней прибыл в Люксембург с диаконом Павлом Лиситиным и чтецом Георгием Султаном, где был встречен настоятелем прихода, протоиереем Иоанном Григорицэ. В сослужении богослужений Преосвященному Владыке сослужили в алтаре: протоиерей Стефан Вертс (из прихода Воскресения Христова в Брюсселе), иерей Павел Голынский (Базельский приход), а также множество приглашенных клириков из других приходов и епархий.
Торжественное Всенощное бдение накануне праздника было прекрасно исполнено приходским хором под управлением матушки Вероника, после чего Владыка Ириней имел возможность разделить трапезу с местным духовенством, членами приходского совета и другими представителями приходского управления. На следующий день, после встречи архиерея с хлебом и солью, была совершена торжественная Божественная литургия в честь святых Апостолов в великолепном Люксембургском храме — дар верующим от приснопамятного протоиерея Сергия Пуха и его верной супруги, матушки Эмилии. В этих прекрасных стенах храма архипастырь и духовенство возглавили молитвы народа Божия, водимые апостолами Петром и Павлом, и привели всех ко святому причащению Божественных Таин Христовых.
По окончании литургии Владыка Ириней произнес проповедь на русском и французском языках о сущности Церкви как «апостольской» — и напомнил верующим, что это не только факт исторической памяти, но и всегдашняя реальность Тела Христова, управляемого апостольской благодатью.
«Церковь апостольская, — сказал архиерей, — ибо сами Апостолы исполнили и исполняют поручение, данное им от Христа: рукою их были избраны преемники, призваны и помазаны новые мужи, и апостольская миссия распространилась в Церкови по всему миру и сквозь всю историю. Даже в нынешних последних и трудных днях иерархия Церкви приемлет сию благодать, и апостольская десница возлагается ныне на новые главы, воздвигая преемников апостольских и — через их священное служение — новых пресвитеров и диаконов, совершающих Божественные Таинства в Алтарях Господних.» Владыка продолжил: «Сие не древняя летопись: сие есть живая наша реальность! И Апостолы первых дней несомненно радуются днесь и во вся дни, в обителях Небесных, видя продолжение служения, которому они посвятили всю земную жизнь свою.»
По завершении Литургии и крестного хода были вознесены радостные поздравления, и отец Иоанн выразил свое искреннее ликование от соборного богослужения, совершенного Владыкой вместе со всем верным паством Люксембурга. «Вечная память» была провозглашена основателям прихода, а «Многая Лета» — возглашена за иерархию, приходской овет и верующих, и особенно за всех Петров и Павлов, чьи именины праздновались в этот день.
На приходском подворье, под летним солнцем, состоялся праздничный обед, во время которого молодежь и дети прихода представили замечательный музыкальный концерт в честь престольного праздника.
Епископ Ириней остается в Люксембурге до конца выходных; в Воскресенье он вновь совершит Божественную литургию, после которой проведет духовную беседу с приходской молодежной группой.
29 JUIN / 12 JUILLET 2025 : La fête des saints, glorieux et illustres apôtres Pierre et Paul a été célébrée à Luxembourg par la visite archipastorale de Son Excellence Monseigneur Irénée, évêque de Londres et d’Europe occidentale. Ce jour étant la fête patronale de l’église, les saints offices furent célébrés dans une joie toute particulière, les clercs et les fidèles implorant ensemble les saints Apôtres de continuer à bénir et guider l’Église à Luxembourg comme dans le monde entier.
Monseigneur Irénée s’est rendu à Luxembourg accompagné du diacre Pavel Lisitsin et du lecteur Georges Sultan, où ils furent accueillis par le recteur local, le Très Révérend Archiprêtre Ioann Grigoriță. D’autres membres du clergé se sont joints à l’évêque dans l’Autel pour la concélébration des divins offices : l’archiprêtre Stefan Weerts (de la paroisse de la Résurrection à Bruxelles), le prêtre Pavel Golynski (paroisse de Bâle), ainsi qu’un grand nombre de clercs invités venus d’autres paroisses et diocèses.
Les vigiles solennelles fut chantée avec beauté par la chorale paroissiale, sous la direction de matoushka Véronique, à l’issue de laquelle Vladyka Irénée eut l’occasion de partager un repas fraternel avec le clergé, les membres du conseil paroissial et d’autres responsables de la communauté. Le lendemain matin, après l’accueil liturgique de l’évêque avec le pain et le sel traditionnels, la divine liturgie triomphale en l’honneur des saints Apôtres fut célébrée dans la magnifique église luxembourgeoise — don précieux fait aux fidèles par le défunt et bien-aimé archiprêtre Serge Poukh et son épouse fidèle, Matushka Émilia. En ces saintes murailles, l’évêque et les clercs conduisirent les fidèles dans l’élévation de leurs prières vers Dieu, sous la conduite des saints Pierre et Paul, et les introduisirent dans la communion par la participation commune aux divins mystères du Christ.
À la fin de la liturgie, Vladyka Irénée prononça une homélie en russe et en français sur la réalité de l’Église comme étant « apostolique », rappelant aux fidèles que ce caractère n’est pas seulement un fait de mémoire historique, mais bien la réalité vivante du Corps du Christ, guidé par la grâce apostolique. « L’Église est apostolique, » prêcha l’évêque, « parce que les Apôtres ont véritablement accompli, et continuent d’accomplir, le commandement que le Christ leur donna : de leurs mains furent choisis des successeurs, furent appelés et oints de nouveaux hommes, et la mission apostolique s’est étendue pour devenir l’Église répandue dans le monde entier, à travers les siècles. Même en ces jours difficiles, la hiérarchie de l’Église reçoit cette grâce, et des mains apostoliques sont posées en notre temps sur de nouvelles têtes, élevant de nouveaux successeurs apostoliques et — par leur ministère sacré — de nouveaux prêtres et diacres pour servir aux saints Autels du Seigneur. » Et Vladyka de poursuivre : « Il ne s’agit pas d’histoire ancienne : il s’agit de notre réalité présente ! Et les premiers Apôtres se réjouissent assurément, aujourd’hui et chaque jour, dans les lieux célestes, contemplant la continuation de la mission à laquelle ils ont donné jusqu’à leur dernier souffle. »
Des félicitations joyeuses furent échangées après la liturgie et la procession autour de l’église, et le père Ioann exprima sa grande joie à l’occasion de cette concélébration festive présidée par l’évêque, aux côtés de tout le troupeau fidèle de Luxembourg. « Mémoire éternelle » fut proclamée pour les fondateurs de la paroisse, et « De nombreuses années » fut chanté pour la Hiérarchie, le Conseil paroissial et les fidèles, et tout particulièrement pour tous ceux qui portaient les noms de Pierre et Paul, dont on célébrait la fête onomastique.
Un déjeuner fraternel suivit dans les jardins de l’église, sous le soleil estival, durant lequel les jeunes et les enfants de la paroisse offrirent un magnifique concert musical en l’honneur du jour patronal.
Monseigneur Irénée demeure à Luxembourg durant tout le week-end, et célébrera de nouveau la divine liturgie le dimanche, après quoi il dirigera une causerie spirituelle avec le groupe de jeunes de la paroisse luxembourgeoise.
