10 / 23 NOVEMBER 2025: At the initiative of the Youth Group of the Parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Luxembourg, and under the guidance of its Rector, Archpriest Ioann Grigoriță, a local pilgrimage took place on Sunday, after the Divine Liturgy, to Echternach — a city closely connected to the life and spiritual legacy of Saint Willibrord, the patron saint of Luxembourg, whose feast is celebrated on 7 / 20 November.
This pilgrimage, now organised by the youth, is a longstanding annual tradition of the parish, established during the lifetime of the ever-memorable Archpriest Sergius Poukh and preserved as a living bond of spiritual continuity between generations of believers.
This year’s pilgrimage began with a guided tour of the city, prepared by the Youth Group. Participants were able to deepen their knowledge of Echternach’s history as one of the oldest Christian centers in the region: they discovered historical buildings, learned of ancient monastic traditions and the unique spiritual heritage that makes Echternach a place of pilgrimage for believers from all over the world.
The central moment of the pilgrimage was the visit to the basilica of Saint Willibrord, where a moleben was served before his holy relics by Father Ioann, with all pilgrims taking part. Saint Willibrord (7th-8th century AD) — Apostle of the Frisians and Archbishop of Utrecht, one of the most important missionaries of Western Europe — is the founder of the Christian tradition in the territory of present-day Luxembourg. Prayer before his relics brought spiritual comfort, a strengthening of faith, and blessed joy to all participants.
A special honour for the Luxembourg parish was the receipt of a gift of a portion of the relics of Saint Willibrord, presented as a gift from the Basilica. The faithful rejoiced in this unexpected consolation, and the fact that the legacy of Saint Willibrord continues to live in the hearts of contemporary Christians and shall be venerated with renewed zeal and devotion before his relics in our parish.
The pilgrimage concluded with a guided tour of the Basilica — one of the main Christian sites of Luxembourg, combining unique spiritual and architectural value. The pilgrims had the opportunity to learn about the history of the church, the other relics contained therein, and the centuries-old tradition of venerating the holy enlightener.
At the end of the day, the faithful gave thanks to God for the occasion of spiritual growth, especially felt by the youth who seek eagerly to carry forward the faith of their forefathers to the next generation.
10 / 23 НОЯБРЯ 2025 г.: По инициативе молодежной группы прихода святых первоверховных апостолов Петра и Павла в Люксембурге, и под руководством его настоятеля, протоиерея Иоанна Григорицэ, в воскресный день после Божественной литургии состоялось местное паломничество в Эхтернах — город, тесно связанный с жизнью и духовным наследием святителя Виллиброрда, небесного покровителя Люксембурга, память которого совершается 7 / 20 ноября.
Это паломничество, ныне организуемое молодежью, является давней ежегодной традицией прихода, установленной еще при жизни приснопамятного протоиерея Сергия Пуха и сохраняемой как живое звено духовной преемственности между поколениями верующих.
В нынешнем году паломничество началось с обзорной экскурсии по городу, подготовленной молодежной группой. Участники смогли углубить свои знания об истории Эхтернаха как одного из древнейших христианских центров региона: они познакомились с историческими зданиями, древними монашескими традициями и уникальным духовным наследием, которое делает Эхтернах местом паломничества для верующих со всего мира.
Центральным моментом паломничества стало посещение базилики св. Виллиброрда, где протоиерей Иоанн совершил молебен пред его святыми мощами, в котором приняли участие все паломники. Святитель Виллиброрд (VII–VIII вв.), Апостол фризов и Архиепископ Утрехтский, один из важнейших миссионеров Западной Европы, является основателем христианской традиции на территории современной Люксембурга. Молитва пред его мощами принесла всем участникам духовное утешение, укрепление веры и благодатную радость.
Особой честью для Люксембургского прихода стало получение частицы мощей святого, переданной в дар из базилики. Верующие с радостью приняли это утешительное событие, сознавая, что наследие святителя продолжает жить в сердцах современных христиан и будет с обновленным ревением и благоговением поклоняемо пред его святыми мощами в нашем приходе.
Паломничество завершилось экскурсионным посещением самой базилики — одного из главных христианских святынь Люксембурга, сочетающей в себе уникальную духовную и архитектурную ценность. Паломники имели возможность узнать историю храма, другие содержащиеся в нем святыни и многовековую традицию почитания святого просветителя.
В завершение дня верующие воздали благодарение Богу за возможность духовного возрастания, особенно глубоко ощущенную молодежью, которая стремится с ревностью перенести веру своих предков в поколение следующее.
10 / 23 NOVEMBRE 2025 : À l’initiative du groupe de jeunesse de la paroisse des saints apôtres Pierre et Paul à Luxembourg, et sous la direction de son recteur, l’archiprêtre Ioann Grigoriță, un pèlerinage local eut lieu le dimanche, après la Divine Liturgie, à Echternach — ville étroitement liée à la vie et à l’héritage spirituel de saint Willibrord, saint patron du Luxembourg, dont la fête est célébrée le 7 / 20 novembre.
Ce pèlerinage, désormais organisé par la jeunesse, constitue une ancienne tradition annuelle de la paroisse, établie du vivant du toujours-mémorable archiprêtre Serge Poukh et conservée comme un lien vivant de continuité spirituelle entre les générations de fidèles.
Le pèlerinage de cette année commença par une visite guidée de la ville, préparée par le groupe de jeunesse. Les participants purent approfondir leur connaissance de l’histoire d’Echternach, l’un des plus anciens centres chrétiens de la région : ils découvrirent des édifices historiques, prirent connaissance des traditions monastiques anciennes et du patrimoine spirituel unique qui fait d’Echternach un lieu de pèlerinage pour les croyants du monde entier.
Le moment central du pèlerinage fut la visite de la basilique de saint Willibrord, où un molében fut célébré devant ses saintes reliques par le père Ioann, auquel prirent part tous les pèlerins. Saint Willibrord (VIIe–VIIIe siècles), apôtre des Frisons et archevêque d’Utrecht, l’un des plus importants missionnaires de l’Europe occidentale, est le fondateur de la tradition chrétienne sur le territoire du Luxembourg actuel. La prière devant ses reliques apporta à tous une consolation spirituelle, un affermissement de la foi et une joie bénie.
Un honneur particulier fut accordé à la paroisse de Luxembourg par la réception d’un don — une parcelle des reliques de saint Willibrord, offerte par la Basilique. Les fidèles se réjouirent de cette consolation inattendue, voyant que l’héritage du saint demeure vivant dans le cœur des chrétiens d’aujourd’hui et sera vénéré avec un zèle et une dévotion renouvelés devant ses saintes reliques au sein de notre paroisse.
Le pèlerinage se conclut par une visite guidée de la Basilique elle-même — l’un des principaux sanctuaires chrétiens du Luxembourg, alliant une valeur spirituelle et architecturale unique. Les pèlerins purent se familiariser avec l’histoire de l’église, les autres reliques qu’elle renferme, et la tradition séculaire de vénération du saint illuminateur.
À la fin de la journée, les fidèles rendirent grâce à Dieu pour cette occasion de croissance spirituelle, ressentie d’une manière toute particulière par les jeunes, désireux de porter avec ferveur la foi de leurs ancêtres vers la génération qui vient.
