A Charitable Fair for Maslenitsa followed the Divine Services of the Feast of the Entry in Geneva.

2 / 15 FEBRUARY 2026: On the Sunday of the Last Judgement, which this year was also the Feast of the Meeting of the Lord in the Temple, the Divine Services were held with great solemnity in the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross in Geneva, Switzerland. Following the Liturgy and blessing of candles, the Cathedral parish held a charitable maslenitsa fair. The Very Reverend Archpriest Emilian Pochinok provides a report of the spiritual day at the Sobor:
Beloved brothers and sisters in the Lord!
On this holy and radiant day our Cathedral community gathered in common prayer to glorify the Great Feast of the Meeting of the Lord, which this year coincided with the Sunday of the Last Judgement — a day of serious spiritual reflection on our responsibility before God and our neighbour.
In prayerful stillness and spiritual joy the Divine Liturgy was celebrated. Contemplating the Christ-Child, brought into the Temple and met by the righteous Symeon, we once again recognised the calling of every Christian: to go out to meet the Lord and to offer Him our hearts and our lives. At the conclusion of the Divine Services the blessing of candles was performed, as a sign of the Light of Christ which enlightens every person. May this blessed flame, kindled in our homes, be a reminder of the living presence of God, a strengthening in sorrows and a cause of thanksgiving!
In a spirit of fraternal love and unity, a charitable fair dedicated to Maslenitsa was held in the cathedral courtyard after the Liturgy. This warm and joyful time of fellowship became a living testimony to the unity of our community. The funds collected — around 1,000 Swiss francs — will be directed towards the needs of the parish and the further development of church life.
We express particular gratitude to all the sisters who laboured with diligence and love in organising the celebration. May the Lord reward them a hundredfold, granting health, strength, peace of soul, and His abundant blessing to them, their families, and their loved ones.
Standing on the threshold of Great Lent, the Holy Church once more calls us to repentance, prayer, and inner renewal. May the forthcoming saving journey become for each of us a time of purification of heart, growth in love, and increase in faith, so that in spiritual joy we may meet the radiant Feast of the Resurrection of Christ.
May the Lord bless you all and grant us a grace-filled, peaceful, and saving passage through the holy Forty Days!

Въ сей святой и свѣтозарный день наша приходская община собралась на общую молитву, чтобы прославить великій праздникъ Срѣтенія Господня, который въ нынѣшнемъ году совпалъ съ Недѣлей о Страшномъ Судѣ — днемъ серьезнаго духовнаго размышленія о нашей отвѣтственности передъ Богомъ и ближними.
Въ молитвенной тишинѣ и духовной радости была совершена Божественная литургія. Созерцая Богомладенца Христа, принесеннаго въ храмъ и встрѣченнаго праведнымъ Симеономъ, мы вновь осознали призваніе каждаго христіанина — идти навстрѣчу Господу и приносить Ему въ даръ свое сердце и свою жизнь. По окончаніи богослуженія было совершено освященіе свѣчей — какъ знакъ Свѣта Христова, просвѣщающаго всякаго человѣка. Да будетъ этотъ благословенный огонь, возжигаемый въ нашихъ домахъ, напоминаніемъ о живомъ присутствіи Божіемъ, укрѣпленіемъ въ скорбяхъ и благодареніи.
Въ духѣ братской любви и единства послѣ Литургіи во дворѣ собора состоялась благотворительная ярмарка, пріуроченная къ Масленицѣ. Этотъ теплый и радостный моментъ общенія сталъ живымъ свидѣтельствомъ единства нашей общины. Собранныя средства — около 1000 швейцарскихъ франковъ — будутъ направлены на нужды прихода и дальнѣйшее развитіе церковной жизни.
Съ особой благодарностью обращаемся ко всѣмъ сестрамъ, которыя съ усердіемъ и любовью потрудились въ организаціи праздника. Да воздастъ имъ Господь сторицею, даруетъ здравіе, крѣпость силъ, миръ душевный и Свое обильное благословеніе имъ, ихъ семьямъ и близкимъ.
Стоя на порогѣ Великаго поста, Святая Церковь вновь призываетъ насъ къ покаянію, молитвѣ и внутреннему обновленію. Пусть предстоящій спасительный путь станетъ для каждаго временемъ очищенія сердца, умноженія любви и возрастанія въ Вѣрѣ, дабы въ духовной радости встрѣтить свѣтозарный праздникъ Воскресенія Христова.

2 / 15 FÉVRIER 2026 : En ce Dimanche du Jugement dernier, qui cette année coïncidait avec la fête de la Rencontre du Seigneur au Temple, les offices divins ont été célébrés avec une grande solennité dans la cathédrale de l’Exaltation de la Croix à Genève, en Suisse. À la suite de la Divine Liturgie et de la bénédiction des cierges, la paroisse cathédrale a organisé une foire caritative de la Maslenitsa. Le très révérend archiprêtre Emilian Pochinok propose ci-dessous un compte rendu de cette journée spirituelle au Sobor :
Bien-aimés frères et sœurs dans le Seigneur !
En ce jour saint et lumineux, notre communauté cathédrale s’est rassemblée dans la prière commune pour glorifier la grande fête de la Rencontre du Seigneur, qui cette année a coïncidé avec le Dimanche du Jugement dernier — jour de sérieuse réflexion spirituelle sur notre responsabilité devant Dieu et devant notre prochain.
Dans un recueillement priant et une joie spirituelle, la Divine Liturgie a été célébrée. Contemplant le Christ-Enfant, porté au Temple et accueilli par le juste Syméon, nous avons de nouveau reconnu la vocation de tout chrétien : aller à la rencontre du Seigneur et Lui offrir nos cœurs et nos vies. À l’issue des offices divins a été accomplie la bénédiction des cierges, signe de la Lumière du Christ qui éclaire tout homme. Que cette flamme bénie, allumée dans nos foyers, soit pour nous le rappel de la présence vivante de Dieu, un réconfort dans les épreuves et une source d’action de grâce !
Dans un esprit d’amour fraternel et d’unité, une foire caritative de la Maslenitsa s’est tenue dans la cour de la cathédrale après la Liturgie. Ce moment chaleureux et joyeux de rencontre a été un témoignage vivant de l’unité de notre communauté. Les fonds recueillis — environ 1 000 francs suisses — seront destinés aux besoins de la paroisse et au développement de la vie ecclésiale.
Nous exprimons une gratitude particulière à toutes les sœurs qui ont œuvré avec zèle et amour à l’organisation de la célébration. Que le Seigneur les récompense au centuple, leur accordant santé, force, paix de l’âme et Son abondante bénédiction, à elles, à leurs familles et à leurs proches.
Alors que nous nous tenons au seuil du Grand Carême, la Sainte Église nous appelle de nouveau à la repentance, à la prière et au renouvellement intérieur. Que le chemin salvifique qui s’ouvre devant nous devienne pour chacun un temps de purification du cœur, de croissance dans l’amour et de progrès dans la foi, afin que, dans la joie spirituelle, nous puissions accueillir la lumineuse fête de la Résurrection du Christ.
Que le Seigneur vous bénisse tous et nous accorde de parcourir dans la grâce, la paix et le salut du saint Carême !
