24 OCTOBER / 6 NOVEMBER 2025: The feast of the icon of the Mother of God, ‘Joy of All Who Sorrow’ was solemnly marked in the temple dedicated to the icon in Menton, France. Heading the Divine Services of the Altar Feast was the Ruling Bishop of the Diocese, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, co-served by the parish clergy, Priest Evgeny Nikitin and Deacon Oleg Petrov, together with Archpriest Dionysius Baikov from the Sanremo Parish and Priest Pavel Golynsky of the Basel Parish.
A special blessing was the presence throughout both the All-night Vigil — during which the church was filled to capacity — and the festal Divine Liturgy of the wonderworking Kursk-root icon of the Theotokos. The presence of the Mother of God in one of her most beloved icons, on the feast day of another, was a special grace felt in the hearts of all the faithful.
At the Little Entrance, Vladyka Irenei awarded Priest Evgeny the right to wear the Gold Pectoral Cross, on behalf of the Holy Synod of Bishops, in light of his years of dedicated and heartfelt service to the Church. The parishioners of Menton — and indeed, of the whole surrounding region which Father Evgeny serves with such dedication — were overjoyed at the moment of support for their pastor, and joyfully cried out ‘Axios!’ at the sign of this recognition by the Church.
The Liturgy was beautifully sung by the parish choir, and special prayers were lifted up to the Theotokos.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the Bishop congratulated the faithful with the Feast, and spoke to them of the significance of living under the especial protection of the Mother of God. ‘To all Christians she is mother and intercessor; but to you who live in this parish dedicated to her honour, she is your special helper and heavenly aid. May you always rejoice in that help, and race to her in times of struggle and of joy!’
Father Evgeny in turn offered congratulations to Vladyka Irenei, who on this day celebrated the anniversary of his episcopal consecration and began his tenth year of apostolic service. A banquet then followed in the parish hall, at which the Bishop, clergy and faithful continued their spiritual communion for several hours into the afternoon.
24 ОКТЯБРЯ / 6 НОЯБРЯ 2025 г.: Праздник иконы Божией Матери «Всех скорбящих Радость» был торжественно отпразднован в храме, посвященном этому празднику, в городе Ментоне, Франция. Богослужения престольного праздника возглавил Правящий архиерей, Преосвященный епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский Ириней, которому сослужили иерей Евгений Никитин и диакон Олег Петров, а также протоиерей Дионисий Байков из Сан-ремо и иерей Павел Голынский из Базеля.
Особым благословением стало пребывание на протяжении всей Всенощной и праздничной Божественной литургии чудотворной Курско-коренной иконы Божией Матери. Присутствие Пресвятой Богородицы в одном из ее самых чтимых образов, в день празднования другого ее прославленного образа, стало особой благодатью, ощутимой в сердцах всех верующих.
На малом входе Владыка Ириней удостоил иерея Евгения права ношения золотого наперсного креста от имени Святейшего Архиерейского Синода, в знак признания его многолетнего, усердного служения Церкви. Прихожане Ментона — и, в самом деле, всего окружающего региона, где отец Евгений с такой самоотверженностью несет свое пастырское служение, — с радостью приветствовали этот момент церковного признания, громогласно воскликнув: «Аксиос!»
Божественная литургия была торжественно украшена прекрасным пением приходского хора, а особые молитвы возносились к Пресвятой Богородице.
По окончании литургии Владыка поздравил верующих с праздником и обратился к ним с назидательным словом о значении пребывания под особым покровом Божией Матери: «Для всех христиан она — Мать и Заступница; но для вас, живущих в приходе, посвященном ее славе, она — особая Помощница и Небесная Покровительница. Да радуетесь вы всегда о ее помощи и поспешаете к ней во времена скорбей и радостей!»
В свою очередь, отец Евгений принес поздравления Владыке Иринею, который в этот день отмечал годовщину своей архиерейской хиротонии и вступил в десятый год своего апостольского служения. После богослужения в приходском зале состоялась праздничная трапеза, во время которой архиерей, духовенство и верующие продолжили радостное духовное общение, которое продолжалось несколько часов.
24 OCTOBRE / 6 NOVEMBRE 2025 : La fête de l’icône de la Mère de Dieu « Joie de tous les affligés » a été célébrée solennellement dans l’église dédiée à ce saint mystère à Menton, en France. Les offices du jour de la fête patronale furent présidés par l’évêque dirigeant du diocèse, Son Excellence Monseigneur Irénée, évêque de Londres et d’Europe Occidentale, assisté du prêtre Eugène Nikitine et du diacre Oleg Petrov, ainsi que de l’archiprêtre Dionysi Baikov de Sanremo et du prêtre Paul Golynsky de Bâle.
Une bénédiction toute particulière fut la présence, durant les vigiles comme durant la divine liturgie de la fête, de la sainte et miraculeuse icône de la Mère de Dieu de Koursk « de la racine ». La présence de la Toute-Sainte dans l’un de ses plus vénérés icônes, en ce jour consacré à un autre, fut ressentie comme une grâce particulière dans les cœurs de tous les fidèles.
Au Petit Entrée de la Liturgie, Monseigneur Irénée a conféré au prêtre Eugène le droit de porter la croix pectorale d’orée, au nom du Saint-Synode des évêques, en reconnaissance de ses années de service fidèle et dévoué à l’Église. Les paroissiens de Menton — et de toute la région environnante que le père Eugène sert avec tant de zèle — accueillirent ce moment avec joie et reconnaissance, s’écriant d’une seule voix : « Axios ! »
La liturgie fut magnifiquement chantée par le chœur paroissial, et des prières particulières furent élevées vers la Mère de Dieu.
À la fin de la liturgie, l’évêque adressa ses félicitations aux fidèles pour la fête et leur parla de l’importance de vivre sous la protection spéciale de la Très-Sainte Mère de Dieu : « Pour tous les chrétiens, elle est Mère et Intercesseur ; mais pour vous qui vivez dans une paroisse placée sous son patronage, elle est une aide spéciale et un secours céleste. Puissiez-vous toujours vous réjouir de cette aide, et courir vers elle dans les moments d’épreuve comme dans ceux de joie ! »
Le père Eugène présenta à son tour ses félicitations à Monseigneur Irénée, qui en ce jour célébrait l’anniversaire de sa consécration épiscopale et entamait la dixième année de son service apostolique. Un banquet fraternel suivit ensuite dans la salle paroissiale, où l’évêque, le clergé et les fidèles poursuivirent leur communion spirituelle durant plusieurs heures de l’après-midi.
