4 / 17 MAY 2025: The Parish of the Resurrection of Christ in Meudon, France, marked the centenary of its formation with Hierarchical Divine Services, the ordination of a Deacon, and a host of parish festivities.
Heading the Divine Services of the solemn celebration was His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, together with the former Ruling Bishop of the Diocese, Archbishop Michael (now in retirement). Co-serving the Hierarchs was the Rector of the Meudon temple, Archpriest Michel Goudkoff, together with Hieromonk Nikodim (Korsun Diocese), Priest Georges Machtalère and Priest Serge Tsulkovich (Paris Archdiocese); as well as Protodeacon Nikolai Rebender (Korsun Diocese), Protodeacon Alexandre Boldyreff and Deacon Phillip Markov. A host of other guests in clerical orders were also present, singing in the special second kliros, praying in the Altar, and receiving the Divine Mysteries.
Being a Parish dedicated to the Resurrection, the Divine Services of the centenary were especially poignant in the present Paschal period. A beautiful All-Night Vigil was sung with great compunction and joy, the blessing of the five loaves served by Archbishop Michael and both Archpastors leading the Polyelei amidst the singing of Paschal hymns, which were beautifully sung by two choirs under the direction of Reader Nikolai Goudkoff and Matthew Méline.
At the Divine Liturgy, Vladyka Irenei was greeted at the porch of the temple with the traditional bread and salt, after which he was vested in the centre of the church and the Hours of Pascha were jubilantly sung. Having been joined on the cathedra by Vladyka Michael, the Divine Liturgy proceeded in a festal spirit of thanksgiving. After the consecration of the Holy Gifts, the faithful Subdeacon of the Meudon Parish, Michael Artzemovitch, was ordained Deacon, to happy cries of ‘Axios!’
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop Irenei addressed the clergy and faithful with a homily on the spiritual significance of the parish’s hundred years of life. Speaking of the current parishioners’ forebears in the parish, Vladyka preached: ‘Our ancestors are crying out to us: will you, like us, lift up the Cross and bring True Life to a dying world? Will you be missionaries of the True Gospel in this world of falsehood? Will you do more than simply remember us: will you honour our work and our faith by manifesting the same in your lives?’ His Grace then called all those gathered to spiritual action: ‘As we celebrate the legacy of our forebears, brethren, let us commit ourselves to truly following their example. Let the second century of this parish’s life be one of ascetical growth, missionary zeal, and the tireless proclamation of the Gospel of Salvation, so that one day all of Meudon, and Paris, and France and Europe may learn how to rejoice and cry out with us: Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen!’
Following the closing prayers, Vladyka Irenei presented to Archpriest Michel and the whole Meudon Parish a Synodal Gramata on the occasion of the centenary, upon which ‘Memory eternal’ was sung for the founders of the parish, and ‘Many Years’ proclaimed for its current pastors and flock.
The festivities continued after the Divine Services with a magnificent festal banquet in the historic Institute St Georges, at which a special commemorative booklet of the church’s history was distributed to participants, and a host of musical and cultural performances were conjoined with toasts and congratulations offered by the Bishops, clergy, and members of the parish faithful.

Богослужения возглавил Преосвященнейший епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский Ириней, в сослужении бывшего Правящего архиерея епархии — ныне на покое пребывающего архиепископа Михаила. Им сослужили настоятель Медонского храма — протоиерей Михаил Гудков, иеромонах Никодим (Корсунская епархия), иерей Георгий Машталер и иерей Сергий Цулькович (Парижская архиепископия); а также протодиакон Николай Ребендер (Корсунская епархия), протодиакон Александр Болдырев и диакон Филипп Марков. Присутствовало также множество гостей в священном сане: одни пели на специально сформированном втором клиросе, другие молились в алтаре и причащались Святых Христовых Таин.
Будучи посвященным Воскресению Христову, приход особенно глубоко и радостно переживал свое столетие в дни нынешнего Пасхального периода. Всенощное бдение было совершено с великой молитвенной сосредоточенностью и ликованием; архиепископ Михаил совершил благословение хлебов, и оба архипастыря возглавили полиелей под пение пасхальных песнопений, которые были прекрасно исполнены двумя хорами под управлением чтеца Николая Гудкова и Матфея Мелина.
Во время Божественной литургии владыка Ириней был встречен у притвора храма с хлебом и солью, после чего облачен в центре храма, и потом были торжественно пропеты Пасхальные часы. Кафедра была разделена с владыкой Михаилом, и литургия прошла в радостной атмосфере благодарения. После освящения Святых Даров, постоянный иподиакон Медонского прихода Михаил Арцемович был рукоположен во диакона под радостные возгласы: «Аксиос!»
По завершении литургии епископ Ириней обратился к духовенству и верующим с проповедью о духовном значении столетнего служения прихода. Говоря о предках нынешних прихожан, владыка сказал: «Наши предки вопрошают нас: подымете ли вы, как и мы, Крест Христов и принесете ли Истинную Жизнь миру умирающему? Станете ли вы миссионерами Истинной Евангелии в этом мире лжи? Не только воспоминанием почтите ли нас, но и тем, что воплотите в своей жизни нашу веру и наше служение?» Затем владыка призвал всех к духовному деланию: «Празднуя их наследие, братие и сестры, возьмем на себя твердое намерение идти по их стопам. Пусть второе столетие жизни прихода сего будет веком возрастания духовного, ревности миссионерской и непрестанного проповедания Евангелия спасения — чтобы в свое время весь Медон, и Париж, и вся Франция, и вся Европа научились восклицать вместе с нами: Христос воскресе! Воистину воскресе!»
По окончании молитв владыка Ириней вручил протоиерею Михаилу и всему Медонскому приходу грамоту от Святейшего Архиерейского Синода по случаю столетия, после чего была пропета «Вечная память» основателям прихода и возглашено «Многая Лета» его нынешним пастырям и пастве.
Празднование продолжилось после богослужений великолепным праздничным обедом в историческом институте св. Георгия, во время которого присутствующим был роздан юбилейный буклет с историей храма, а также были предложены музыкальные и культурные выступления, тосты и поздравления архипастырей, духовенства и прихожан.
4 / 17 MAI 2025 : La paroisse de la Résurrection du Christ à Meudon, en France, a marqué le centenaire de sa fondation par des offices divins hiérarchiques, l’ordination d’un diacre et de nombreuses festivités paroissiales.
Les célébrations liturgiques solennelles étaient présidées par Monseigneur Irénée, évêque de Londres et d’Europe occidentale, accompagné de l’ancien évêque diocésain, l’archevêque Michel (aujourd’hui à la retraite). Ont concélébré avec les hiérarques : le recteur de léglise de Meudon, l’archiprêtre Michel Goudkoff, ainsi que l’hiéromoine Nicodème (diocèse de Korsoun), le prêtre Georges Machtalère, et le prêtre Serge Tsulkovitch (archidiocèse de Paris) ; de même que les protodiacres Nicolas Rebender (diocèse de Korsoun), Alexandre Boldyreff et le diacre Philippe Markov. De nombreux autres invités dans les ordres sacrés étaient également présents, chantant dans un deuxième chœur spécialement constitué, priant dans le saint Autel et communiant aux saints Mystères.
Étant une paroisse dédiée à la Résurrection, les offices liturgiques du centenaire revêtaient une signification particulière en cette période pascale. Une vigile nocturne fut célébrée dans une atmosphère de componction et de joie ; la bénédiction des cinq pains fut donnée par l’archevêque Michel, et les deux hiérarques dirigèrent ensemble le polyeleos au milieu du chant des hymnes pascales, magnifiquement interprétées par deux chœurs placés sous la direction du lecteur Nikolaï Goudkoff et de Matthieu Méline.
Lors de la Divine Liturgie, Vladyka Irénée fut accueilli au porche de l’église avec le pain et le sel traditionnels, puis revêtu au centre du temple, tandis que les Heures pascales étaient chantées dans la joie. Rejoint à la cathèdre par Vladyka Michel, la Liturgie se déroula dans un esprit festif et d’action de grâce. Après la consécration des saints Dons, un sous-diacre de la paroisse de Meudon, Michel Artzemovitch, fut ordonné diacre, au milieu des acclamations joyeuses de « Axios ! ».
À la fin de la Liturgie, Monseigneur Irénée s’adressa au clergé et aux fidèles par une homélie sur la signification spirituelle des cent ans de vie paroissiale. Évoquant les ancêtres spirituels des paroissiens actuels, Vladyka déclara : « Nos ancêtres nous crient : serez-vous, comme nous, ceux qui élèvent la Croix et apportent la Vie véritable à un monde mourant ? Serez-vous missionnaires du véritable Évangile dans un monde de mensonge ? Ferez-vous plus que simplement nous commémorer : honorerez-vous notre œuvre et notre foi en les incarnant dans vos vies ? » Puis il appela tous ceux qui étaient rassemblés à l’action spirituelle : « Alors que nous célébrons leur héritage, mes frères, engageons-nous véritablement à suivre leur exemple. Que le second siècle de vie de cette paroisse soit marqué par la croissance ascétique, le zèle missionnaire, et l’annonce infatigable de l’Évangile du salut, afin qu’un jour, tout Meudon, tout Paris, toute la France et l’Europe entière puissent apprendre à se réjouir et à s’écrier avec nous : Le Christ est ressuscité ! En vérité, Il est ressuscité ! »
À l’issue des prières de conclusion, Vladyka Irénée remit à l’archiprêtre Michel et à l’ensemble de la paroisse de Meudon une gramota synodale à l’occasion du centenaire. Puis fut chanté « Mémoire éternelle » pour les fondateurs de la paroisse, et « Многая лета » proclamé pour ses pasteurs actuels et son troupeau.
Les festivités se poursuivirent après les offices par un grand banquet festif dans l’ancien institut St Georges, au cours duquel un livret commémoratif retraçant l’histoire de l’église fut distribué aux participants. Des prestations musicales et culturelles variées accompagnèrent les toasts et les félicitations offertes par les évêques, le clergé et les membres de la paroisse.
