SUNDAY 31 MARCH / 13 APRIL 2025: The Divine Liturgy for the Sunday of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem was solemnly celebrated in the Geneva Cathedral by the Ruling Bishop of the Diocese, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, together with the clergy of the Cathedral: Archpriests Pavel Tsvetkoff, Emilian Pochinok and Antony Vargaraki, Priest Antoine Barros, Archdeacon Dometian (Redko) and Deacon Pavel Lisitsin (from the London Cathedral).
On the eve of the sacred day, during the All-Night Vigil, Vladyka Irenei blessed the traditional palm fronds and pussywillow branches, which were distributed to the faithful and held throughout the matins service, as well as on Sunday for the festal Divine Liturgy.
On Sunday, Bishop Irenei invited Archbishop Michael, the former Bishop of Geneva (now in retirement) to join him in the concelebration of the Divine Liturgy, which the two hierarchs prayerfully undertook together with the local clergy. A tremendous number of faithful assembled in the historic cathedral for the day’s liturgical services, the majority of them partaking of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
During the Sixth Hour, Reader Alexei was ordained as a subdeacon.
Following the Liturgy, Vladyka Irenei addressed the faithful with a sermon and congratulated all on the conclusion of the lenten fast, and the spiritual transition into the week of the Lord’s saving Passion.
ВОСКРЕСЕНЬЕ, 31 МАРТА / 13 АПРЕЛЯ 2025 г.: В воскресенье Входа Господня в Иерусалим Божественная литургия была торжественно совершена в женевском кафедральном соборе Правящим архиереем епархии, Преосвященнейшим епископом Лондонским и Западно-Европейским Иринеем, в сослужении с духовенством собора: протоиереями Павлом Цветковым, Емилианом Починком и Антонием Варгараки, иереем Антонием Барросом, архидиаконом Домианом (Редко) и диаконом Павлом Лисициным (Лондонского собора).
Накануне святого дня, во время Всенощного бдения, Владыка Ириней освятил традиционные пальмовые ветви и вербу, которые были розданы верующим и благоговейно держались во время утрени, а затем и на самой Литургии в воскресный день.
В сам день праздника епископ Ириней пригласил архиепископа Михаила, бывшего Женевского архиерея (ныне пребывающего на покое), присоединиться к нему для сослужения Божественной литургии. Два архиерея совместно и молитвенно совершили богослужение в окружении соборного духовенства.
Огромное число верующих собралось в этот день в историческом соборе, и большинство из них с благоговением причастились Святых Христовых Таин.
Во время Шестого часа чтец Алексий был рукоположен во иподиакона.
По завершении Литургии Владыка Ириней обратился к пастве с архипастырским словом и поздравил всех с завершением Великого поста и духовным вступлением в седмицу спасительных страстей Господа нашего.
DIMANCHE 31 MARS / 13 AVRIL 2025 : La Divine Liturgie du Dimanche de l’Entrée du Seigneur à Jérusalem a été célébrée solennellement dans la cathédrale de Genève par l’archevêque dirigeant, Monseigneur Irénée de Londres et d’Europe occidentale, entouré du clergé de la cathédrale : les archiprêtres Pavel Tsvetkoff, Emilien Pochinok et Antoine Vargaraki, le prêtre Antoine Barros, l’archidiacre Dométien (Redko) et le diacre Pavel Lisitsine.
À la veille de ce saint jour, lors de la vigile nocturne, Vladyka Irénée a béni les rameaux traditionnels de palmier et de saule, qui furent distribués aux fidèles et portés durant l’office des matines, ainsi que le dimanche lors de la Divine Liturgie de la fête.
Le dimanche, Monseigneur Irénée a invité l’archevêque Michel, ancien évêque de Genève (aujourd’hui à la retraite), à se joindre à lui pour la concélébration de la Divine Liturgie, que les deux hiérarques ont célébrée dans la prière avec le clergé local. Un très grand nombre de fidèles s’étaient rassemblés dans la cathédrale historique pour les offices liturgiques du jour, et la majorité d’entre eux ont communié aux Saints Mystères du Christ.
Pendant la Sixième Heure, le lecteur Alexei a été ordonné sous-diacre.
À l’issue de la Liturgie, Vladyka Irénée s’est adressé aux fidèles par une homélie, et a félicité tous pour l’achèvement du jeûne quadragésimal et la transition spirituelle vers la semaine de la Passion salvifique du Seigneur.
