4 / 17 AUGUST 2025: To the great joy of the faithful of the whole Diocese of Western Europe, on Sunday a portion of the sacred relics of the Holy Hierarch Spyridon of Tremythus were received at the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross in Geneva, Switzerland, where they shall now abide perpetually for the veneration of the faithful children of the Diocese.
One of the greatly-beloved Saints of the Church — especially amongst the faithful of the ROCOR, for whom his memory is interwoven with that of the Venerable St Herman of Alaska, with whom St Spyridon shares the feast day of 12 / 25 December — St Spyridon is the unyielding intercessor for all those Christians who call upon him, which includes each year a great number of faithful from our parishes who make pilgrimage to venerate his sacred relics in Corfu.
At the recent restoration of the principal reliquary there, His Eminence Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu, Paksoi and the Diapontioi, in his fraternal love for the faithful of our Diocese, enshrined a portion of St Spyridon’s sacred relics in one of the slippers that has adorned the Saint’s precious feet, and presented them to the Diocese’s cathedral in Geneva, where they shall now be permanently enshrined for the perpetual veneration of the faithful in Western Europe.
The Very Reverend Archpriest Emilian Pochinok, who serves in the Geneva Cathedral, expressed on Sunday his deep joy and thanksgiving, as he presented the sacred relics to the parishioners. Father Emilian’s long labours of love for the Saint, and his interactions with His Eminence Metropolitan Nektarios, were instrumental in the blessed reception of this gift of love to the Diocese, which thanks him for his heartfelt labours.

4 / 17 АВГУСТА 2025 г.: К великой радости всех верных чад Великобританской и Западно-Европейской епархии, в воскресный день в Женевском Крестовоздвиженском кафедральном соборе был принят ковчег с частью святых мощей святителя Спиридона Тримифунтского, где они отныне будут пребывать для непрестанного поклонения верных чад епархии.
Один из наиболее любимых святых всей Церкви — и особенно дорогой сердцам чад Русской Зарубежной Церкви, для которых его память неразрывно связана с преподобным Германом Аляскинским, ибо оба они празднуются в один день, 12 / 25 декабря, — святитель Спиридон является непреклонным ходатаем за всех христиан, призывающих его имя. Среди них и многие верные чада наших приходов, ежегодно совершающие паломничество на остров Корфу для поклонения его честным мощам.
Во время недавнего обновления главного раки святителя, Его Высокопреосвященство митрополит Керкирский, Паксийский и Диапонтийских островов Нектарий, движимый братскою любовию к верным чадам нашей епархии, благословил вложить часть святых мощей святителя Спиридона в один из башмаков, некогда украшавших честные ноги угодника Божия, и преподал сей благословенный дар кафедральному собору в Женеве. Там они отныне будут пребывать во веки, являя утешение и святыню для верных чад Западной Европы.
Протоиерей Емилиан Починок, клирик Женевского кафедрального собора, в воскресный день с глубокой радостью возгласил благодарение Богу и преподнес святыню пастве. Долголетние его труды любви к святителю и усердные связи с митрополитом Нектарием стали орудием благословенного приёма сего дара любви к нашей епархии, которая возносит благодарность отцу Емилиану за его сердечные труды.

4 / 17 AOÛT 2025 : À la grande joie des fidèles de toute l’Éparchie d’Europe Occidentale, un reliquaire contenant une portion des reliques du saint hiérarque Spyridon de Tremithonte a été reçu, ce dimanche, en la cathédrale de l’Exaltation de la Croix à Genève, en Suisse, où il demeurera désormais perpétuellement pour la vénération des fidèles enfants du diocèse.
L’un des saints les plus chéris de l’Église — spécialement parmi les fidèles de l’Église Hors-Frontières, pour lesquels sa mémoire est étroitement unie à celle du vénérable saint Herman d’Alaska, avec lequel saint Spyridon partage la fête du 12 / 25 décembre — le saint hiérarque est l’inlassable intercesseur de tous les chrétiens qui l’invoquent, parmi lesquels se trouvent chaque année de nombreux fidèles de nos paroisses, qui se rendent en pèlerinage pour vénérer ses saintes reliques à Corfou.
À l’occasion de la récente restauration du reliquaire principal dans cette île, Son Éminence le métropolite Nectaire de Corfou, Paksoi et Diapontioi, dans son amour fraternel pour les fidèles de notre diocèse, a enchâssé une portion des saintes reliques de saint Spyridon dans l’une des pantoufles qui ont orné les précieux pieds du Saint, et les a offertes à notre cathédrale à Genève, où elles seront désormais conservées de manière permanente, pour la vénération des fidèles d’Europe occidentale.
Le très révérend archiprêtre Emilien Pochinok, qui sert en la cathédrale de Genève, a exprimé ce dimanche sa profonde joie et son action de grâce, en présentant les saintes reliques aux paroissiens. Les longs labeurs d’amour du père Emilian pour le Saint, ainsi que ses relations avec Son Éminence le métropolite Nectaire, furent déterminants dans la bénédiction de cette réception, qui constitue un don d’amour pour l’Éparchie, laquelle lui exprime sa reconnaissance pour son service empli de ferveur.
