6 / 19 JULY 2025: The Diocesan children’s summer camp in honour of St John the Wonderworker has successfully concluded its 2025 programme. The following report from the camp organiser, Archpriest Emilian Pocinok of the Geneva Cathedral, conveys the spirit of joy at the annual event at the heart of the Church life of some of the diocese’s youngest faithful.
Archpriest Emilian writes:
“By the grace of God, on the 19th of July 2025, our Orthodox summer camp, held in honour of Saint John of Shanghai and San Francisco, was successfully brought to its conclusion.
The camp took place in a beautiful and secluded location — at the Riant-Val chalet in Leysin — which was able to accommodate all the participants in its pleasant environs.
The programme of the camp was carefully crafted with the aim of strengthening in the hearts of the children the values of Christian life and deepening their understanding of their identity as Orthodox Christians. We sought to impart to each child — boy or girl — the truth that they are loved and awaited by their parents at home, that they are not alone, and that their roots are to be found in the family, in the Church, and above all in God.
Special attention was given to nurturing in them a spirit of prayer. We encouraged them to begin and end each day with prayer, to pray before and after meals, and to give thanks to God in all things. We taught them attentiveness to the commandments of God, with particular emphasis on the Fifth Commandment — to honour one’s father and mother. We spoke with the children of the importance of obedience, love, and gratitude towards their families.
The children were also given the opportunity to take part in the Holy Mysteries of Confession and Communion — an experience which, for many of them, was a deeply personal and spiritually significant moment in their lives.
I humbly consider that the camp was successful, and I believe that the seeds sown in the children’s hearts will, in due time, bear fruit, and that the Lord will strengthen them in the faith!
I express my sincere gratitude to Almighty God for all that was accomplished, and I extend heartfelt thanks to the devoted monitors and helpers: Karina, Arseny, Natalia, Pitirim, Apollinaria, Konstantin and Mikhail.
May the Lord bless every participant of the camp, and may the Name of God be glorified in us all!

6 / 19 ИЮЛЯ 2025 г.: Епархиальный детский летний лагерь, посвященный святителю Иоанну чудотворцу, успешно завершил свою программу 2025 года. Ниже приводится отчет организатора лагеря — протоиерея Эмилиана Починока из Женевского кафедрального собора, передающий дух радости, царившей на этом ежегодном мероприятии, которое занимает особое место в жизни Церкви для самых юных ее чад.
Протоиерей Эмилиан пишет:
«По милости Божией, 19 июля 2025 года успешно завершился наш православный летний лагерь, посвященный святителю Иоанну Шанхайскому и Сан-Францисскому.
«Лагерь проходил в живописном и уединённом месте — в шале «Риант-Вал в Лейзане», где смогли разместиться все участники согласно максимально возможному количеству мест.
«Программа лагеря была составлена с целью укрепления в детских сердцах христианских ценностей и понимания своей личности как православного христианина. Мы стремились донести до каждого ребёнка — будь то мальчик или девочка — истину о том, что дома их любят и ждут родители, что они не одиноки, что их корни — в семье, в Церкви и в Боге.
«Особое внимание мы уделили воспитанию в детях молитвенного духа. Мы приучали их начинать и завершать день с молитвы, молиться перед и после трапезы, благодарить Бога за всё. Учили их быть внимательными к заповедям Божиим, особенно к пятой заповеди — о почитании родителей: “Почитай отца твоего и матерь твою”. Мы говорили с детьми о важности послушания, любви и благодарности к своим родным.
«Детям была предоставлена возможность участвовать в Таинствах Исповеди и Причастия, что для многих стало особым и личным переживанием духовной жизни.
«Считаю, что наш лагерь прошёл успешно. Верю, что посеянные в сердцах детей семена принесут плоды в своё время, и Господь укрепит их в вере.
«Выражаю искреннюю благодарность Господу Богу за всё, что удалось совершить. Сердечно благодарю преданных мониторов и помощников: Карину, Арсения, Наталью, Питирима, Аполлинарию, Константина и Михаила.
«Да благословит Господь каждого участника лагеря, и да будет в нас всех прославлено Имя Божие!

6 / 19 JUILLET 2025 : Le camp d’été diocésain pour enfants, placé sous le patronage spirituel de saint Jean le Thaumaturge, s’est achevé avec succès pour l’année 2025. Le rapport suivant, rédigé par l’organisateur du camp, le très révérend archiprêtre Emilien Pocinok de la cathédrale de Genève, témoigne de la joie spirituelle ayant marqué cet événement annuel au cœur de la vie ecclésiale de nos plus jeunes fidèles.
L’archiprêtre Emilian écrit :
« Par la grâce de Dieu, le 19 juillet 2025, notre camp d’été orthodoxe, organisé en l’honneur de saint Jean de Shanghai et de San Francisco, s’est achevé avec succès.
Le camp s’est déroulé dans un lieu magnifique et retiré — le chalet Riant-Val à Leysin — où tous les participants ont pu être logés dans un cadre agréable et paisible.
Le programme du camp a été soigneusement élaboré dans le but de fortifier, dans le cœur des enfants, les valeurs de la vie chrétienne et de leur faire approfondir leur identité d’enfants de l’Église orthodoxe. Nous avons voulu faire comprendre à chaque enfant — garçon ou fille — cette vérité essentielle : qu’ils sont aimés et attendus par leurs parents, qu’ils ne sont pas seuls, et que leurs racines se trouvent dans la famille, dans l’Église et, par-dessus tout, en Dieu.
Une attention particulière a été portée à l’éveil d’un esprit de prière. Nous les avons encouragés à commencer et conclure chaque journée par la prière, à prier avant et après les repas, à rendre grâce à Dieu en toutes choses. Nous leur avons enseigné l’attention portée aux commandements divins, avec une insistance particulière sur le cinquième commandement — honorer son père et sa mère. Nous avons parlé avec eux de l’importance de l’obéissance, de l’amour et de la reconnaissance envers leurs familles.
Les enfants ont également eu la possibilité de participer aux saints mystères de la Confession et de la Communion — expérience qui, pour beaucoup d’entre eux, a revêtu un caractère profondément personnel et spirituellement marquant.
Je crois humblement que ce camp a été une réussite, et je suis persuadé que les semences plantées dans les cœurs des enfants porteront, en leur temps, des fruits, et que le Seigneur les affermira dans la foi !
J’exprime ma profonde gratitude envers le Dieu Tout-Puissant pour tout ce qui a été accompli, et je remercie de tout cœur les moniteurs et aides dévoués : Karina, Arsène, Natalia, Pitirime, Apollinaria, Constantin et Michel.
Que le Seigneur bénisse chaque participant de ce camp, et que le Nom de Dieu soit glorifié en nous tous !
