SATURDAY, 9 / 22 NOVEMBER 2025: On Saturday afternoon, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe chaired the annual meeting of the Parish Assembly of the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross in Geneva, Switzerland.

Calling the meeting to order with prayer before the wonderworking Kursk-root icon of the Mother of God, which at the present moment is visiting the Orthodox faithful of Geneva, Bishop Irenei welcomed the members of the Cathedral community and offered a brief summary of the previous year’s activities, and thanked the clergy, parish officers and all the faithful of the Geneva Cathedral for their focus on life and growth of the parish.

Especially notable this past year has been the growth in the number of faithful attending the Divine Services, and especially of younger people, converts to Orthodoxy, and children. The Bishop expressed his joy that participation in Vigils is strong in the Cathedral, and that confession and the reception of Holy Communion form the bedrock of the spiritual life in the city.

Reports were heard from the parish clergy; the parish starosta and treasurer, who spoke of the recently-completed renovation of the parish hall and library, and the solid state of the Cathedral’s finances; and others. The parish accounts and audit were approved, and elections were held for the officers of the parish for the coming year.

Following the successful conclusion of the Parish Assembly, a moleben was served before the Kursk-root icon, after which began the All-Night Vigil. Bishop Irenei remains in Geneva through the Liturgy on Sunday, after which he will accompany the icon to other parts of Switzerland in the afternoon and evening. From Monday, the icon will be in the Dublin and Stradbally, and from there continue its visitations in Ireland and the UK.

СУББОТА, 9 / 22 НОЯБРЯ 2025 г.: В субботний день, Преосвященный епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский  Ириней возглавил ежегодную приходскую ассамблею Женевского кафедрального собора в честь Воздвижения Креста Господня.

Открывая заседание молитвой перед чудотворной Курской-коренной иконой Божией Матери, которая в настоящее время пребывает в Женеве, Владыка Ириней приветствовал членов общины собора, представил краткий обзор деятельности прошедшего года и выразил благодарность духовенству, приходским должностным лицам и всем верным чадам кафедрального собора за их усердие в деле устроения церковной жизни и возрастания прихода.

Особенно примечательным в истекшем году стало увеличение числа верующих, посещающих богослужения, и в особенности — молодых людей, новообращённых к Православию, и детей. Архипастырь выразил свою радость по поводу того, что участие в Всенощных бдениях остается крепким в соборе, и что исповедь и причащение Святых Христовых Таин являются краеугольным камнем духовной жизни города.

Были заслушаны доклады приходского духовенства; старосты и казначея, которые рассказали о недавно завершённом обновлении приходского зала и библиотеки, а также о твердом состоянии приходских финансов; и других ответственных лиц. Приходские счета и аудиторский отчет были утверждены, и состоялись выборы приходских должностных лиц на наступающий год.

По успешном завершении работы собрания был совершен молебен перед Курской-коренной иконой, после чего началось Всенощное бдение. Владыка Ириней пребывает в Женеве до воскресной Божественной литургии, по окончании которой он сопроводит святую икону в иные области Швейцарии в течение дня и вечера. С понедельника икона будет пребывать в Дублине и Стрэдбалли, а затем продолжит свое пребывание в Ирландии и Великобритании.
