His Grace Bishop Irenei has confirmed plans, arranged in conjunction with the Rector of the Parish of St John of Shanghai in Colchester, England, to consecrate the parish temple on the Feast of St John this coming year: Saturday, 4th July (new style) 2020.

Formerly a military garrison church, St John’s, Colchester was purchased by the parish some years ago and thoroughly converted for Orthodox worship, whilst still maintaining the building’s historic facade and character. It is home to a large and active parish, served by Archpriest Andrew Phillips and Priest Ioann Iana, with a beautiful iconostasis and a side-altar dedicated to All Saints of the British Isles.
The rite of the Great Consecration of the temple will be co-served by the Diocesan Bishop, together with the Vicar Bishop, His Grace Bishop Alexander of Vevey, and various clergy.
Further details will follow closer to the time, but please mark your calendars now for a pilgrimage to the parish in honour of St John, who was for eleven years the Ruling Bishop of our Diocese, on the special occasion of this blessed rite.
