The First Hierarch visited the Holy Trinity Parish in Bern, Switzerland.

15 / 28 SEPTEMBER 2026: During the Afterfeast of the Exaltation of the Cross of the Lord, in the course of his archpastoral visit to Switzerland for the jubilee of the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross in Geneva, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York visited the Holy Trinity Parish in Bern, the federal city of Switzerland. The First Hierarch of the ROCOR was accompanied by the Ruling Bishop, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, and Archpriest Emilian Pochinok, Dean of the Swiss Parishes. The First Hierarch and the distinguished guests were welcomed by the parish Rector, Priest Vladimir Svystun, together with the clergy and church servers.
The joy of the celebration was greatly multiplied by the presence of the wonderworking Kursk-root Icon of the Mother of God, the Hodigitria of the Diaspora. Despite its being a working day, the modest church was filled to overflowing with faithful from throughout German-speaking Switzerland, who wished to venerate the Queen of Heaven and greet the Primate of our Church. In his address to the faithful before the moleben, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas called upon each person to offer heartfelt prayers to the Mother of God, invisibly present in the temple of God, beseeching her heavenly protection and strengthening in faith and piety. A solemn moleben was served before the wonderworking Icon, and prayer was offered for the health and salvation of the parishioners and inhabitants of the God-preserved city of Bern and ‘the whole land of Switzerland’.
Following the Divine Service, Bishop Irenei addressed Metropolitan Nicholas with words of congratulation, noting that the walls of this church had last welcomed a First Hierarch of the ROCOR — at that time Metropolitan Philaret (Voznesensky) — as long ago as 1964, when he too had come with the Kursk-root Icon. Thus, on this day, a great mercy of God had been shown to all. The parish Rector, Father Vladimir, expressed the parish’s sincere gratitude to the distinguished guests and presented commemorative gifts.
Abiding in Paschal joy, the faithful continued for a long time in prayer before the wonderworking Icon, also having the opportunity to converse with the Hierarchs and clergy. That evening, His Eminence and his companions departed for Geneva.

Радость торжества была многократно умножена принесеніемъ чудотворной Курской-коренной иконы Божіей Матери — Одигитріи разсѣянія. Невзирая на рабочій день, скромный храмъ былъ переполненъ вѣрующими изъ разныхъ концовъ нѣмецкоязычной части Швейцаріи, желавшими поклониться Царицѣ Небесной и привѣтствовать Первосвятителя нашей Церкви. Въ обращеніи къ вѣрующимъ передъ молебномъ Высокопреосвященнѣйшій митрополитъ Николай призвалъ каждаго отъ всего сердца вознести молитвы Божіей Матери, невидимо присутствовавшей въ храмѣ Божіемъ, испрашивая Ея небеснаго покрова и укрѣпленія въ вѣрѣ и благочестіи. Передъ чудотворной святыней былъ торжественно отслуженъ молебенъ и вознесена молитва о здравіи и спасеніи прихожанъ и жителей богоспасаемаго града Берна и «всей страны Швейцарской».
Послѣ богослуженія со словомъ поздравленія къ митрополиту Николаю обратился Владыка Ириней, подчеркнувъ, что въ послѣдній разъ стѣны сего храма видѣли Первоіерарха РПЦЗ — тогда митрополита Филарета (Вознесенскаго) — въ далекомъ 1964 году, когда онъ также прибылъ сюда съ Курской-коренной иконой. Посему нынѣ всѣмъ была явлена великая милость Божія. Настоятель прихода священникъ Владиміръ выразилъ высокимъ гостямъ отъ имени прихода искреннюю благодарность и преподнесъ памятные подарки.
Пребывая въ пасхальной радости, вѣрующіе долго молились передъ чудотворнымъ образомъ, имѣя возможность общаться съ іерархами и духовенствомъ. Вечеромъ того же дня Его Высокопреосвященство со спутниками отбылъ въ Женеву.

15 / 28 SEPTEMBRE 2026 : Durant l’après-fête de l’Exaltation de la Croix du Seigneur, au cours de sa visite archipastorale en Suisse à l’occasion du jubilé de la cathédrale de l’Exaltation de la Sainte-Croix de Genève, Son Éminence le métropolite Nicolas d’Amérique orientale et de New York, Premier Hiérarque de l'EORE, s’est rendu à la paroisse de la Sainte-Trinité de Berne, ville fédérale de la Suisse. Le Premier Hiérarque était accompagné de l’Évêque diocésain, Son Excellence l’évêque Irénée de Londres et d’Europe occidentale, et du doyen des paroisses de Suisse, l’archiprêtre Émilien Potchinok. Le Premier Hiérarque et les hôtes de marque ont été accueillis par le recteur de la paroisse, le prêtre Vladimir Svystoun, entouré des clercs et des servants de l’église.
La joie de la célébration fut grandement accrue par la présence de l’icône miraculeuse de la Mère de Dieu de Koursk "de la lRacine", l’Hodigitria de la diaspora. Bien que ce fût un jour ouvrable, la modeste église était comble de fidèles venus de toute la Suisse alémanique, désireux de vénérer la Reine des Cieux et de saluer le Primat de notre Église. Dans son allocution aux fidèles avant le moleben, Son Éminence le métropolite Nicolas invita chacun à élever de tout son cœur ses prières à la Mère de Dieu, invisiblement présente dans le temple de Dieu, en implorant sa protection céleste et son secours pour être affermi dans la foi et la piété. Un moleben fut solennellement célébré devant l’icône miraculeuse, et des prières furent élevées pour la santé et le salut des paroissiens et des habitants de la ville de Berne gardée par Dieu, ainsi que de « tout le pays suisse ».
À l’issue de l’office, Monseigneur Irénée adressa des paroles de félicitations au métropolite Nicolas, soulignant que ces murs avaient accueilli pour la dernière fois un Premier Hiérarque de l’Église orthodoxe russe hors frontières en la personne du métropolite Philarète (Voznessensky), en cette année désormais lointaine de 1964, lorsque celui-ci était également venu avec l’icône de Koursk. Une grande miséricorde de Dieu était donc manifestée à tous en ce jour. Le recteur, le père Vladimir, exprima aux hôtes de marque la sincère reconnaissance de la paroisse et leur offrit des présents commémoratifs.
Dans la joie pascale, les fidèles demeurèrent longtemps en prière devant l’icône miraculeuse, ayant également la possibilité de s’entretenir avec les hiérarques et le clergé. Le soir même, Son Éminence et ceux qui l’accompagnaient repartirent pour Genève.
