28 OCTOBER / 10 NOVEMBER 2024: On its feast day, the Monastery of St Job of Pochaev, located in Munich, Germany, celebrated the formal handing over of the keys to the Seifriedsberg Castle, which is in due course to become the brotherhood’s new home. To the joy of the faithful all across Europe, we share news of that event, as reported by His Grace Bishop Job of Stuttgart:
“We wish to share with you the joyful atmosphere of the celebration and the memorable encounters with numerous guests who honoured us with their presence on the feast day. Approximately 500 people arrived from all over Germany to participate in the first prayer service at the walls of the new monastery, to adorn it with their singing, support it with their prayers, and to witness this historic moment. A new chapter has begun, both for Orthodoxy in Germany and for Seifriedsberg Castle, which had long been abandoned.
Among those present were numerous parishioners from various parishes of the German Diocese, clergy, long-time friends and benefactors of the monastery, as well as honoured guests, including the mayor of Ziemetshausen, the director of the nearby Catholic shrine of Maria Vesperbild, and the head of the Günzburg district administration.
After the prayer service and greetings in the main building’s vestibule, a small concert was held by the choir of the Munich Cathedral, led by Vladimir Vladimirovich Tsiolkovich.
Metropolitan Mark, the brethren, and I, along with hundreds of guests, were enveloped by a wave of reverent joy, amazement, and inspiration brought about by such widespread support for the monastery and this promising and significant diocesan endeavor.
What’s next?
The handing over of the keys marks the beginning of a new phase for us. In the coming weeks, we will create detailed layouts of the premises and begin precise planning for the work in the castle. This will allow us to determine which tasks need to be completed within specific timeframes and where we will need volunteer assistance.

К радости верующих по всей Европе, мы делимся новостью об этом событии, как сообщил Преосвященный епископ Штутгартский Иов:
«Хотим поделиться с Вами впечатлениями от праздничного настроения и встречи с большим количеством гостей, которые почтили нас своим присутствием. Около 500 человек прибыли со всей Германии, чтобы принять участие в первом молебне у стен нового монастыря, украсить его своим пением, подкрепить своей молитвой и стать соучастниками этого исторического момента. Началась новая глава как для православия в Германии в целом, так и для замка Зайфридсберг, который долгие годы находился в запустении.
Среди участников были многочисленные прихожане разных приходов Германской епархии, священнослужители, давние друзья и благодетели монастыря, а также почетные гости (в том числе мэр местечка Циметсхаузен (Ziemetshausen), директор находящегося недалеко от замка католического храма в честь Пресвятой Богородицы (Maria Vesperbild) и глава администрации района Гюнцбург).
После молебна и приветствий в вестибюле главного здания состоялся небольшой концерт хора Мюнхенского кафедрального собора под управлением Владимира Владимировича Циолковича.
Митрополит Марк, братия и я вместе с сотнями гостей оказались охвачены волной благоговейной радости, удивления и восторга, вызванного столь широкой поддержкой монастыря и этого многообещающего и значительного епархиального начинания.
Какие будут дальнейшие действия?
Передача ключей знаменует для нас начало нового этапа. В ближайшие недели мы составим подробные схемы помещений и начнем точное планирование работ в замке. Это позволит нам определить, какие задачи в какие сроки должны быть выполнены, и где нам понадобится помощь волонтеров.
