A screenshot from Monday’s Lenten talk.

On Monday the Diocese hosted its first live-streamed Lenten Talk with Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, provided on account of the great number of people throughout our Diocese, and indeed the world, who are currently housebound under restrictions put in place by various local governments in response to the coronavirus COVID-19. The theme of the first talk was ‘Insights from the Desert for the Interior Struggle of Great Lent’ (video file available here), which had an audience of almost 200 live on the evening, and which has been viewed by nearly 3,500 people since.

Tonight, Wednesday 25th March, we will host the second talk, which shall take place at 7.00 p.m. British Time, live on-line. The talk will be broadcast via the Facebook Livestream feature, via the Diocese’s official Facebook page.

The theme of the tonight’s second Lenten talk will be ‘The Foundations of Prayer: Prayer of the Lips and Prayer of the Heart.’

For the purposes of future planning, His Grace has agreed to give live talks also this Friday, 27th March, as well as Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings of the coming week (30th March, 1st and 3rd April), all at the same time of 7.00 p.m. British time. A reminder that British Summer Time starts on 29th March 2020, meaning the clocks in the United Kingdom will shift by one hour: for those connecting to these live events from other timezones, be aware that this may result in a differing number of hours’ difference between British time and your local time.

Details for tonight’s talk:

  • Date and Time: Wednesday 25th March 2020, at 7.00 p.m. British Time (8.00 p.m. European Time)
  • Duration: One Hour
  • Language: English (questions taken in English, Russian and French)
  • Location: Live stream broadcast on Facebook, via the Diocese’s official Facebook page.
