31-31 JULY 2022: On the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost, on which the Church commemorates the Holy Fathers of the First Six Ecumenical Councils, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Orthodox children’s summer camp dedicated to St Seraphim of Sarov, near Gloucester in England.
Organised by the St Nicholas the Wonderworker Parish of the Diocese of Sourozh, the St Seraphim Camp is one of the longest-running Orthodox summer camps in the UK and brings together children and young people from across the British Isles — including children from our diocesan parishes in the region.
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Bishop Irenei headed the Divine Liturgy at the camp. Co-served by Archpriest Stephen Platt, organiser of the camp, Archpriest Raphael Armour, Archpriest Joseph Skinner and Deacon Alexey Kostyanovski, Vladyka led the Liturgy amidst singing by the children of the camp who formed a wonderful choir.
At the conclusion of the service, Bishop Irenei gave a brief homily on the example of St Seraphim for all Orthodox Christians, especially young people, and the need to live holy lives in our troubled world. His Grace also conveyed to the campers the Archpastoral greetings of their Diocesan Bishop, His Grace Matthew of Sourozh, and wished all those present a joyful continuation of the camp’s programme.
Later in the day, His Grace departed by car for London. This week he will depart for the Holy Land, where he will, together with His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany, lead a pilgrimage for faithful of the two dioceses of the Church Abroad in Europe.

31-31 ИЮЛЯ 2022 г.: В Неделю 7-ю по Пятидесятнице, в которую Церковь сохраняет память святых отцов первых шести Вселенских соборов, Преосвященнейший епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский Ириней совершил Божественную литургию в православном детском летнем лагере во имя преп. Серафима Саровского, недалеко от Глостера, в Англии.
Организованный приходом святителя Николая чудотворца Сурожской епархии, Свято-Серафимовский лагерь является одним из старейших православных летних лагерей в Великобритании и объединяет детей и молодежь со всех Британских островов, в том числе детей из наших епархиальных приходов в регионе.
По благословению Преосвященнейшего епископа Сурожского Матфея, епископ Ириней возглавил Божественную литургию в лагере. В сослужении организатора лагеря протоиерея Стефана Платта, протоиерея Рафаэла Армор, протоиерея Иосифа Скиннер и диакона Алексия Костяновского, владыка возглавил Литургию под пение лагерных детей, составивших прекрасный хор.
По завершении богослужения владыка Ириней произнес краткую проповедь на примере преподобного Серафима для всех православных, особенно молодежи, и необходимости жить святой жизнью в нашем неспокойном мире. Его Преосвященство также передал собравшимся архипастырское приветствие их епархиального архиерея Преосвященнейшего Матфея Сурожского и пожелал всем присутствующим радостного продолжения лагерной программы.
Позже в тот же день владыка уехал на машине в Лондон. На этой неделе он отправится в Святую Землю, где вместе с Высокопреосвященнейшим митрополитом Берлинским и Германским Марком возглавит паломничество для верующих двух епархий Зарубежной Церкви в Европе.
