SUNDAY 11 / 24 SEPTEMBER 2023: On the evening of the 16th Sunday after Pentecost, following the celebration of the Divine Services in the London Cathedral during the morning and afternoon, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe met in the evening with members of the London Youth Group. Over the course of three hours together, Vladyka Irenei spoke to the youth about the life of their patron saint, St Mary Magdalene, and about developing aspects of the spiritual life with her as a model, and through her intercessions. The youth were eager to pose many questions about their own spiritual struggles and joys with their Bishop, who shared with them the teachings of the Church and her Holy Fathers that can help them in their lives.
At the request of the youth, Vladyka also spoke with them about Church music, in response to their desire to form a new youth choir. Inspired by their zeal, the Bishop led a first ‘singing lesson’ in Church hymnography, during which the young people were able to learn about fundamental aspects of liturgical singing and already sing several hymns together.
‘I am very pleased that you are all so eager to spend such time in holy activities together, and in seeking to better understand the Christian life,’ Bishop Irenei said to the youths. ‘May He bless you all in your works!’

ВОСКРЕСЕНЬЕ, 11 / 24 СЕНТЯБРЯ 2023 г.: Вечером в 16-ю неделю по Пятидесятнице, после совершения богослужений в Лондонском соборе, Преосвященный епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский Ириней встретился вечером с членами Лондонской молодежной группы. В течение трех часов владыка Ириней рассказывал молодежи о жизни их святой покровительницы, святой Марии Магдалины, а также о развитии аспектов духовной жизни с ее примером и через ее заступничество. Молодежь стремилась задать множество вопросов своему архиерею о своей духовной борьбе и радостях, и Владыка поделился с ними учениями Церкви и ее Святых Отцов, которые могут помочь им в жизни.
По просьбе молодежи Владыка поговорил с ними и о церковной музыке, в ответ на их желание создать новый молодежный хор. Вдохновленный их рвением, епископ Ириней провел первый «урок пения» церковной гимнографии, в ходе которого молодые люди смогли узнать об основных аспектах богослужебного пения и уже вместе спели несколько гимнов.
«Мне очень приятно, что вы все так стремитесь проводить такое время вместе в святых делах и в стремлении лучше понять христианскую жизнь», – обратился к молодежи архиерей. «Пусть Он благословит вас всех в ваших делах!»
