SUNDAY, 13 / 26 MARCH 2023: On the fourth Sunday of Great and Holy Lent, the Parish of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Cardiff, Wales, drew into Holy Orthodoxy three adults who have converted to the saving True Faith of Christ’s Holy Church. The parish’s newly-enlightened parishioners are Patrick, his mother Brigid, and Mary, all of whom were baptised by Hieromonk Mark (Underwood), rector of the Cardiff Parish, in the rural village of St Nicholas, a few miles outside the city.
Commenting on the joyful occasion, Father Mark noted, ‘Our community continues to grow, as those who seek traditional Orthodoxy find their way to the parish, showing a willingness to make Sunday journeys of a hundred miles and more — from Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset — to be part of a parish of the Church Abroad.
‘This has been reflected in the number of adult baptisms, with seven new parishioners having been baptised in the last eleven months.’ Looking towards the future, he added: ‘We now look forward to the baptism of two student catechumens at Troitsa.’
