SATURDAY 15 / 28 JUNE 2025: A pilgrimage to holy sites in Greece, undertaken under the guidance of Priest Pavel Golynski of the St Nicholas Parish in Basel, Switzerland, has successfully come to its end.
A group of twenty-five pilgrims journeyed over the course of ten days, visiting Athens and the islands of Aegina, Tinos, Andros, Patmos, as well as Mega Spilaion, Piraeus, Loutraki, Patras, and Corfu. All were profoundly moved by the experience of visiting such holy places, and especially the sacred services experienced on the island of Patmos, in the Cave of the Revelation.
On the island of Andros, the pilgrims visited the Monastery of Saint Nicholas, where the myrrh-streaming icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, known as the ‘Root of Jesse’, is preserved. They also visited the Monastery of the Great Martyr Marina, where her wonderworking icon is venerated.
On Aegina, the group visited the women’s monastery founded by Saint Nektarios of Aegina; and in Patras, the pilgrims were blessed to venerate the precious head of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called.
At Mega Spilaion, a visit was made to the men’s monastery situated in the mountains, where the wonderworking wax icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, known as ‘The Great Cave’ (Megaspilaiotissa) — a work of the Holy Apostle Luke — is enshrined in a silver reliquary.
On the island of Corfu, the pilgrims visited the Cathedral of Saint Theodora, where her holy relics repose; the Church of Saint Spyridon of Trimythous, where his incorrupt relics are venerated; and a men’s monastery, home to Father Polycarp, the spiritual child of Saint Paisios the Athonite, who now dwells there as the monastery’s sole inhabitant.
Throughout this pilgrimage, the faithful received deep spiritual and inward consolation — a true peace of soul, leading to a strengthening of their relationship to the Faith and to life itself. As they departed from Greece, the pilgrims felt that they were bringing back to their homes and families a portion of the Grace with which they had been nourished by visiting the holy places and venerating the sacred relics.
СУББОТА, 15 / 28 ИЮНЯ 2025 г.: Завершилось паломничество по святым местам Греции, совершенное под духовным руководством иерея Павла Голынского, настоятеля прихода святителя Николая в Базеле, Швейцария.
Группа из двадцати пяти паломников совершила десятидневное путешествие, посетив Афины и острова Эгина, Тинос, Андрос, Патмос, а также монастырь Мега-Спилео, города Пирей, Лутраки, Патры и остров Корфу. Все участники были глубоко тронуты встречей со святынями и особенно богослужением, совершенным в пещере откровения на острове Патмос.
На острове Андрос паломники посетили монастырь святителя Николая, где пребывает мироточивая икона Пресвятой Богородицы, именуемая «Корень Иесеев». Также они поклонились в монастыре великомученицы Марины, где хранится ее чудотворная икона.
На Эгине группа посетила женский монастырь, основанный святым Нектарием Эгинским. В Патрах паломники удостоились великой чести поклониться честной главе святого апостола Андрея Первозванного.
В монастыре Мега-Спилео, расположенном в горах, паломники поклонились чудотворной восковой иконе Пресвятой Богородицы, именуемой «Великопещерная» (Мегаспилеотисса), написанной святым апостолом Лукой и ныне хранящейся в серебряном ковчеге.
На острове Корфу были посещены кафедральный собор святой императрицы Феодоры, где покоятся ее святые мощи, храм святителя Спиридона Тримифунтского с его нетленными мощами, а также мужской монастырь, в котором в уединении подвизается отец Поликарп — духовное чадо св. Паисия Святогорца.
В течение всего этого паломничества верующие получали глубокое духовное утешение и мир душевный, укрепляя свою веру и внутреннюю жизнь. Возвращаясь домой, паломники чувствовали, что несут с собой часть той благодати, которой напитались у святынь и мощей святых угодников Божиих.
