In London, on the eve of the Dormition, the Rite of the Burial of the Theotokos was served.

À Londres, à la veille de la fête de la Dormition de la Très Sainte Mère de Dieu, l’Office de l’ensevelissement de la Très Sainte Mère de Dieu a été célébré.

14 / 27 AUGUST 2026: On Thursday evening, the eve of the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God, the special Rite of the Burial of the Theotokos was served in the London Cathedral. Forming part of the Matins of the festal All-night Vigil, the rite closely echoes that served for the Theotokos' Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, during the holy and saving week of His Divine Passion: A special burial shroud was borne into the centre of the temple to a decorated tomb, before which were sung the Lamentations of the burial, filled with reverence and hope. The rite was served by the Ruling Bishop, together with the clergy of the London Cathedral.
Later in the Divine Service, the shroud was borne up in a funeral procession around the Cathedral, the faithful bearing lit tapers and joining the choir in singing hymns in honour of the falling asleep of the Mother of God.
In the morning, the feastday proper, the Divine Liturgy of the Dormition will be celebrated, at which pious Christians commemorate not only the repose of the ever-virgin Theotokos, but with it her bodily translation into the mansions of heaven.

Составляя часть утрени праздничнаго Всенощнаго бдѣнія, сей чинъ близко воспроизводитъ богослуженіе, совершаемое надъ Сыномъ Пресвятыя Богородицы, Спасителемъ нашимъ Іисусомъ Христомъ, во святую и спасительную седмицу Его Божественныхъ Страстей. Плащаница Богородицы была изнесена на средину храма и положена предъ украшенною гробницею, гдѣ были воспѣты исполненныя благоговѣнія и упованія Плачи Погребенія. Богослуженіе совершилъ Правящій архіерей въ сослуженіи духовенства Лондонскаго каѳедральнаго собора.
Позднѣе, во время богослуженія, плащаница была обнесена крестнымъ ходомъ вокругъ собора; вѣрующіе несли возженныя свѣщи и вмѣстѣ съ хоромъ воспѣвали пѣснопѣнія въ честь успенія Матери Божіей.
Утромъ, въ самый день праздника, будетъ совершена Божественная литургія Успенія, за которою благочестивые христіане воспоминаютъ не только преставленіе Приснодѣвы Богородицы, но и ея тѣлесное вознесеніе въ небесныя обители.

Составляя часть утрени праздничного Всенощного бдения, сей чин близко воспроизводит богослужение, совершаемое над Сыном Пресвятой Богородицы, Спасителем нашим Иисусом Христом, во святую и спасительную седмицу Его Божественных Страстей. Плащаница Богородицы была изнесена на середину храма и положена пред украшенной гробницей, где были воспеты исполненные благоговения и упования Плачи Погребения. Богослужение совершил Правящий архиерей в сослужении духовенства Лондонского кафедрального собора.
Позднее, во время богослужения, плащаница была обнесена крестным ходом вокруг собора; верующие несли возженные свечи и вместе с хором воспевали песнопения в честь успения Матери Божией.
Утром, в самый день праздника, будет совершена Божественная литургия Успения, за которой благочестивые христиане воспоминают не только преставление Приснодевы Богородицы, но и ее телесное вознесение в небесные обители.

14 / 27 AOÛT 2026 : Le jeudi soir, à la veille de la fête de la Dormition de la Très Sainte Mère de Dieu, l’office particulier de l’Ensevelissement de la Mère de Dieu a été célébré à la cathédrale de Londres. Faisant partie des Matines des vigiles de la fête, cet office rappelle de près celui qui est célébré pour le Fils de la Mère de Dieu, notre Sauveur Jésus-Christ, durant la sainte et salvifique semaine de Sa divine Passion. Le linceul de la Très Sainte Mère de Dieu fut porté au centre de l’église et déposé devant un tombeau orné, où furent chantées les Lamentations de l’Ensevelissement, empreintes de vénération et d’espérance. L’office fut célébré par l’évêque dirigeant, entouré du clergé de la cathédrale de Londres.
Plus tard au cours de l’office, le linceul fut porté en procession autour de la cathédrale. Les fidèles, tenant des cierges allumés, s’unirent au chœur pour chanter les hymnes en l’honneur de la dormition de la Mère de Dieu.
Le matin, en ce jour même de la fête, sera célébrée la Divine Liturgie de la Dormition, au cours de laquelle les pieux chrétiens commémorent non seulement le repos de la toujours-vierge Mère de Dieu, mais aussi sa translation corporelle dans les demeures célestes.
