19 NOVEMBER / 2 DECEMBER 2025: The Orthodox parish of the Sourozh Diocese in Oxford, dedicated to the great wonderworking hierarch St Nicholas, on Tuesday received into its temple another wonderworker: namely, the wonderworking Kursk-root icon of the Mother of God, guide of the Orthodox Diaspora, which, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe and His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, was taken to the parish for veneration by its faithful.

The sacred icon was transported to Oxford from Birmingham by Hieromonk Theodore on Tuesday afternoon, and along the way the homes of many Orthodox faithful in the greater Reading and Oxford areas were visited and blessed. At 6.00 p.m., the Kursk-root icon was formally greeted at St Nicholas Parish by the Rector of the church, Archpriest Stephen Platt. Then, the icon having been enshrined in the centre of the temple, a moleben and akathist were served before it and the prayers of a tremendous number of Orthodox faithful ascended before it to God and His Mother.

The veneration of the icon lasted into the late hours of the evening. On Wednesday morning, the Divine Liturgy in the St Nicholas Parish was served in the presence of the icon, which was then be taken to the Diocesan Cathedral in London.

19 НОЯБРЯ / 2 ДЕКАБРЯ 2025 г.: Приход Сурожской епархии в Оксфорде, посвященный великому чудотворцу святителю Николаю, во вторник принял в свои стены иного чудотворца: а именно, чудотворную Курско-коренную икону Божией Матери, путеводительницу православной Диаспоры, которая, по благословению Его Преосвященства епископа Лондонского и Западно-Европейского Иринея и Его Преосвященства епископа Сурожского  Матфея, была принесена в приход для поклонения верующими.

Святая икона была привезена в Оксфорд из Бирмингема иеромонахом Феодором во второй половине дня вторника, и по пути были посещены и благословлены дома многих православных верующих в районах Рединга и Оксфорда. В 18:00 Курско-коренная икона была торжественно встречена в приходе святителя Николая настоятелем храма, протоиереем Стефаном Платтом. Затем, после водружения иконы в центре храма, перед нею были совершены молебен с акафистом, и молитвы множества православных верующих вознеслись перед нею к Богу и Его Пречистой Матери.

Поклонение иконе продолжалось до поздних часов вечера. В среду утром Божественная литургия в приходе святителя Николая была совершена в присутствии святыни, после чего икона была отвезена в Кафедральный собор епархии в Лондоне.
