With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, a new mission has been established in Telford, Shropshire in England. The first Divine Liturgy of the new community will be held on Saturday, 13th July 2019 (n.s.).

Having received the petition of numerous faithful in the region, Bishop Irenei travelled to the area in Paschaltide to explore the possibilities for a new community. Thanks to the generous hospitality of His Grace Bishop Dositej of the Serbian Orthodox Eparchy of Britain and Scandinavia, the Orthodox church building of St Nicholas in Telford has been made available to the new mission. The trustees of the Serbian community have warmly welcomed the opportunity to foster additional Divine Services in the area.

His Grace Bishop Irenei has entrusted the pastoral care of the new community to Priest Spiridon Bailey, who was received into the ranks of the clergy of the Diocese at the beginning of this year and is an attached cleric of the Parish of St Elisabeth in Wallasey. The new mission will begin its life under the spiritual protection of St Chad of Lichfield.

While the new mission’s first Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday 13th July in order to make possible the concelebration of Archpriest Paul Elliott, Diocesan Chancellor, thereafter the mission’s normal pattern of services shall be for Divine Liturgies to be held on the first and third Sundays of the month, starting from September.

Further details may be found on the Diocese’s Facebook page.

The mission’s first Divine Liturgy will take place Saturday, 13th July 2019 (n.s.) at 10.00 a.m. The location is St Nicholas’s Church, 18 Wellington Road, Muxton, Telford TF2 8NQ.
