SUNDAY 5 / 18 FEBRUARY 2024: Prior to the consecration of the Holy Gifts during the Divine Liturgy in London on the Sunday of Zacchaeus, the Deacon Alban Illingworth was called forth to ordination as Priest. Through the laying-on of hands of His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, Deacon Alban, who since his diaconal ordination has been attached to the Parish of St Elisabeth in Wallasey, was consecrated to the Priesthood in order to serve the Mission Parish of St John the Forerunner in Durham, England.
Bishop Irenei was co-served during the Divine Liturgy by the Cathedral clerics, Archpriests Vitaly Serapinas and Yaroslav Hudymenko, and Deacons Andrei Borisas and Sergei Baranov. Joining these were the Diocesan Chancellor Archpriest Paul Elliott of St Elisabeth’s Parish and Hieromonk Theodore (Stanway), visiting from Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York. Archpriest Peter Baulk, retired cleric of the Cathedral, prayed in the Altar during the Liturgy and ordination.
Father Alban, who has been instrumental in the establishment of the mission in Durham, which was founded in December 2022, has since that time been working on its development while also serving in Wallasey. With his elevation, the mission will now have a resident Priest to celebrate regularly the Divine Services, while the Very Reverend Archpriest Paul Elliott, Chancellor of the Diocese and senior cleric of the region, will continue to exercise pastoral oversight and care as the mission develops further.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Deacon Sergei Baranov solemnly read the Bishop’s traditional Gramota of Exhortation to the newly-ordained Priest, containing a concise summary of the Church’s expectations of him as well as the Bishop’s instructions for the undertaking of his new pastoral role. A luncheon then followed in the Cathedral hall, at which congratulations were offered to the newly-ordained Priest Alban and his family.

ВОСКРЕСЕНЬЕ 5 / 18 ФЕВРАЛЯ 2024 г.: В неделю о Закхее, перед освящением Святых Даров во время Божественной литургии в Лондоне, диакон Албан Иллингворт получил сан священника. Диакон Албан, который с момента своего диаконского рукоположения был прикомандирован к приходу св. Елизаветы в Уолласи, Преосвященным Епископом Лондонским и Западно-Европейским Иринеем, был рукоположен в сан священника для служения миссионерскому приходу святого Иоанна Предтечи в Дареме, Англия.
За Божественной литургией епископу Иринею сослужили соборные клирики протоиерей Виталий Серапинас и Ярослав Гудименко, а также диаконы Андрей Борисас и Сергий Баранов. К ним присоединились секретарь епархии протоиерей Павел Эллиот из прихода святой Елизаветы и иеромонах Феодор (Стэнвей), прибывший из Свято-Троицкого монастыря в Джорданвилле, штат Нью-Йорк, США. В алтаре молился отставной клирик собора протоиерей Петр Болк.
Отец Албан, который сыграл важную роль в создании даремской миссии, основанной в декабре 2022 года, с тех пор работает над ее развитием, одновременно служа в Уолласи. С его возведением в сан священства, он как постоянный священник будет регулярно совершать богослужения в Дареме, а епархиальный секретарь протоиерей Павел Эллиот как старейший клирик региона, продолжит осуществлять всеобщий пастырский надзор и заботу по мере дальнейшего развития миссии.
По завершении Божественной литургии диакон Сергий Баранов торжественно зачитал традиционную Архиерейскую грамоту-наставление новорукоположенному священнику, содержащую краткое изложение ожиданий от него Церкви, а также наставления Архиерея по принятию на себя нового пастырского служения. Затем в соборном зале последовала трапеза, на которой были произнесены поздравления новоиспеченному иерею Албану и его семье.
