2 / 15 FEBRUARY 2025: On the Great Feast of the Meeting of the Lord, the Divine Liturgy was headed in the London Cathedral by His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, co-served by the Cathedral clergy, together with Archpriest Paul Elliott, the Chancellor of the Diocese and Priest Viktor Meshko of the Cathedral in Munich, and Deacon George Moldoveanu of the Antiochian Archdiocese of the UK.
The festal commemorations began with the All-Night Vigil on Friday evening, headed by the Bishop and clergy. A special honour was the presence at the Divine Services of the eve, and of the Feast itself, of the Very Reverend Abbess Maria of the St Elisabeth Monastery in Buchendorf, Germany.
The festal Divine Liturgy on Saturday morning began with the greeting of the Ruling Bishop with bread and salt. During the service, after the consecration of the Holy Gifts, the longtime member of the Cathedral, Subdeacon Ktitor Pavel Lisitsin, was ordained as a Deacon.
After Holy Communion, a homily was preached by Archpriest Paul Elliott, who spoke on his personal impressions of the holiness of the Feast; and at the end of the Liturgy the rite of the blessing of candles was performed — a tradition kept annually in the Feast of the Meeting.
Bishop Irenei then greeted the clergy and assembled faithful, after which the Gramata of Exhortation to the newly-ordained was proclaimed by Deacon Andrei Borisas, and the Bishop said a few words on the sanctity of ordination and the new role of service to which Father Deacon Pavel has been called. ‘Many Years’ was then proclaimed, and Deacon Pavel was able to greet the faithful.
A small meal was held for the clergy in the afternoon. The full festal trapeza in honour of the Feast has been transferred to Sunday, so as to enable a single, large meal for all the faithful over the course of the weekend.

2 / 15 ФЕВРАЛЯ 2025 г.: В день великого праздника Сретения Господня Божественную литургию в Лондонском кафедральном соборе возглавил Преосвященнейший епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский Ириней в сослужении клириков собора, а также протоиерея Павла Эллиотта, иерея Виктора Мешко из Мюнхена, и диакона Георгия Молдовэяну из Антиохийской Архиепископии Великобритании.
Праздничные торжества начались с Всенощного бдения в пятничный вечер, которое возглавил архипастырь в сослужении духовенства. Особой честью стало присутствие на богослужениях накануне и в сам день праздника игумении Марии из монастыря преподобномученицы Елисаветы в Бухендорфе (Германия).
Праздничная Божественная литургия в субботнее утро началась с встречи Правящего архиерея с хлебом и солью. Во время службы, после освящения Святых Даров, давний член кафедрального прихода, иподиакон ктитор Павел Лисицин, был рукоположен во диакона.
Перед Святым Причащением проповедь произнес протоиерей Павел Эллиотт, который поделился своими личными впечатлениями о святости праздника; а в завершение Литургии был совершен чин освящения свечей — традиция, ежегодно соблюдаемая в праздник Сретения.
Затем епископ Ириней обратился с приветствием к духовенству и собравшимся верующим, после чего диакон Андрей Борисас огласил грамоту-наставление новопоставленному диакону, а владыка произнес несколько слов о святости священного рукоположения и новом служении, к которому призван отец диакон Павел. Затем было провозглашено «Многая Лета», и диакон Павел смог поприветствовать верующих.
В дневное время для духовенства была организована небольшая трапеза. Полное праздничное угощение в честь Сретения перенесено на воскресенье, чтобы предоставить возможность всем верующим собраться вместе за общей трапезой в течение выходных дней.
