FRIDAY 6 / 19 JANUARY 2024: On the Great Feast of the Theophany of our Lord and God and Saviour Jesus Christ, six adults were baptised into the Holy Orthodox Church at the Parish of St Elisabeth in Wallasey, England.
The Baptismal Liturgy was served by Archpriest Paul Elliott, Rector of the Parish and Chancellor of the Diocese, together with Archpriest Vyacheslav Lyahovsky, Hieromonk Theodore (visiting the Diocese from Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville) and Priest Justin Venn.
The six adults who received Holy Baptism have been regular members of the congregation during their period as catechumens, and are now able to take a full part in the sacramental life of the ever growing parish. The joy of the Feast and of the occasion of their baptism was augmented by the presence for the services of visitors from the London Cathedral, Jordanville, Mettingham and elsewhere, including family and friends of the newly-illumined. After the Liturgy a breakfast was organised by the Parish Sisterhood, and some amongst the newly-baptised, together with their visiting friends, visited Liverpool for a pleasant afternoon together.
On the same day Archpriest Paul served the rite of the making of another catechumen, who joins the next group to be prepared for Holy Baptism.
