Throughout the fifth week of Great and Holy Lent, following the Feast of the Annunciation at which the wonderworking Kursk-root icon of the Mother of God was present in the Florence Parish, the icon travelled back into France to visit several more parishes of the Diocese, as well as other Orthodox jurisdictions.

Among the visits, the holy icon was brought to the Parish of St John the Russian in Lyon, where it was greeted by the Rector, Archpriest Quentin de Castelbajac, whereupon it was venerated by the faithful during the Friday service of the Akathist Hymn to the Mother of God. Speaking on behalf of his flock, Fr Quentin noted the special grace that all felt, that this most-revered icon of the Theotokos was present in the multinational parish of Lyon on a day so deeply devoted to her. The faithful joined the clergy in singing whole-heartedly to the honour of God’s mother, imploring her to bring consolation, comfort and strength.

Having spent some time in the Lyon region, the icon then travelled to the greater Paris region, where it was met by the Rector of the Meudon Parish of the Resurrection, Archpriest Mikhail Goudkoff, together with the parish Deacon, Alexander Boldyreff. His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, travelling from London for the occasion, arrived in Paris the same afternoon, and despite the challenges of cancelled and delayed flights that required re-booking at the eleventh hour, the Bishop was able to arrive at the parish in the afternoon in order to serve the rite of General Unction in the presence of the icon, together with local and visiting clergy, amidst a great gathering of faithful who came to venerate the image of the Mother of God and receive the sacrament of anointing.

The same evening, Bishop Irenei took the wonderworking Kursk-root icon to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in central Paris (Diocese of Korsun), where by mutual arrangement with the Cathedral’s rector, His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, the holy icon was presented to the faithful of the cathedral during the All-night Vigil. At the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, His Grace Bishop Irenei served the Vigil, together with the clergy of the Korsun Diocese, in its chief temple. Special prayers were offered before the icon for peace in Ukraine and the intercessions of the Theotokos in the present times of sorrow and conflict.

On the morning of the Fifth Sunday of Great Lent, the holy icon was once again received into the Meudon Parish, near Paris, and Bishop Irenei was greeted by the clergy for the Divine Liturgy on the day honouring St Mary of Egypt, whose Life had been read earlier in the week. Large numbers of faithful assembled for the Divine Service in the presence of the icon, at which the majority received the Holy Mysteries of Christ; and following the Liturgy Vladyka stayed to converse with the many faithful who were present — including an especially large number of children, who were visibly delighted to spend time with the bishop and their parish family.

In the evening, His Grace met with the clergy and faithful, the icon having blessed the homes of faithful in Meudon and Paris throughout the afternoon.

В течение пятой седмицы Великого Поста, после праздника Благовещения, на котором чудотворная Курская-Коренная икона Божией Матери находилась во флорентийском приходе, святыня отправилась обратно во Францию, чтобы посетить еще несколько общин нашей епархии, а также другие православные юрисдикции.

Согласно расписанию чудотворная икона была доставлена в приход св. Иоанна Русского в Лионе, где ее встретил настоятель протоиерей Квентин де Кастельбажак. Выступая от имени своей паствы, отец настоятель отметил особую благодать, которую все ощутили во время пребывания почитаемой святыни в многонациональном лионском приходе, в особенности в посвященный ей день, прибыв в пятницу накануне Субботы Акафистной. Верующие со священнослужителями во время вечернего богослужения молитвенно возвеличили Пресвятую Богородицу, умоляя Ее даровать утешение, отраду и духовную крепость.

Оставшись некоторое время в Лионе и окрестностях, икона отправилась в район Парижской метрополии, где ее встретил настоятель Свято-Воскресенского Медонского прихода протоиерей Михаил Гудков вместе с диаконом Александром Болдыревым. Епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский Ириней, вылетевший по этому случаю из Лондона, прибыл в Париж в тот же день, посетив приход во второй половине дня, чтобы совершить в присутствии  иконы чин Всеобщего Елеосвящения. Его Преосвященству сослужило тамошнее и приезжее духовенство, среди большого скопления верующих, пришедших поклониться образу Божией Матери и принять участие в Таинстве Соборования.

В тот же вечер епископ Ириней сопроводил чудотворную Курско-Коренную икону в Свято-Троицкий кафедральный собор в центре Парижа (Корсунская епархия), где по взаимной договоренности с настоятелем Высокопреосвященнейшим митрополитом Антонием святая икона была преподнесена верующим храма для поклонения во время Всенощного бдения. По приглашению Высокопреосвященнейшего Митрополита Антония Преосвященный Епископ Ириней отслужил Всенощное Бдение вместе с духовенством Корсунской епархии в ее главном храме. Перед иконой возносились особые молитвы о мире на Украине и заступничестве Богородицы в нынешнее скорбное и неспокойное время. 

Утром в воскресенье 5-е Великого поста святая икона была вновь принята в приходе г. Медон близ Парижа, а епископ Ириней был встречен духовенством за Божественной литургией в день чествования преподобной Марии Египетской, житие которой читалось в начале недели. На Богослужении в присутствии иконы собралось значительное количество верующих, большинство из которых причастилось Святых Христовых Таин; а после литургии владыка остался пообщаться со многими присутствовавшими, в том числе с особенно большим числом детей, которым явно нравилось проводить время с Архиереем и их приходской семьей. 

Вечером того же дня Его Преосвященство имел общение с духовенством и некоторыми прихожанами, а в течение дня чудотворная икона освящала дома верующих в Медоне и Париже.

Tout au long de la cinquième semaine du Grand Carême, après la fête de l’Annonciation à laquelle l’icône miraculeuse de Koursk de la Mère de Dieu ‘de la racine’ était présente dans la paroisse de Florence, l’icône est retournée en France pour visiter plusieurs autres paroisses du diocèse, ainsi que d’autres juridictions orthodoxes.

Parmi les visites, la sainte icône a été amenée à la paroisse Saint-Jean-le-Russe à Lyon, où elle a été accueillie par le recteur, l’archiprêtre Quentin de Castelbajac, après quoi elle a été vénérée par les fidèles lors de l’office du vendredi de l’hymne acathiste à la Mère de Dieu. Parlant au nom de son troupeau, le père Quentin a noté la grâce particulière que tous ressentaient, que cette icône la plus vénérée de la Theotokos était présente dans la paroisse multinationale de Lyon pour une journée si profondément consacrée à elle. Les fidèles se sont joints au clergé pour chanter de tout leur cœur à l’honneur de la mère de Dieu, l’implorant d’apporter consolation, réconfort et force.

Après avoir séjourné quelque temps en région lyonnaise, l’icône s’est ensuite rendue en région parisienne, où elle a été accueillie par le recteur de la paroisse de la Résurrection à Meudon, l’archiprêtre Mikhail Goudkoff, ainsi que le diacre de la paroisse, p. Alexandre Boldyreff. Mgr Irénée de Londres et d’Europe occidentale, voyageant de Londres pour l’occasion, est arrivé à Paris le même après-midi, et malgré les défis des vols annulés et retardés qui ont nécessité une nouvelle réservation à la onzième heure, l’évêque a pu arriver à la paroisse dans l’après-midi afin de servir le rite de la Grande Onction en présence de l’icône, avec le clergé local et visiteur, au milieu d’un grand rassemblement de fidèles venus vénérer l’image de la Mère de Dieu et recevoir le Sacrement de onction.

Le même soir, l’évêque Irenei a emmené l’icône miraculeuse à la cathédrale de la Sainte Trinité au centre de Paris (Diocèse de Korsun), où, par accord mutuel avec le recteur de la cathédrale, Son Eminence le Métropolite Antoine, la sainte icône a été présentée aux fidèles de la cathédrale lors des vigiles. À l’invitation de Son Eminence le Métropolite Antoine, Son Excellence l’Evêque Irénée a servi les vigiles, avec le clergé du diocèse de Korsun, dans leur temple principal. Des prières spéciales ont été offertes devant l’icône, pour la paix en Ukraine et les intercessions des Theotokos en ces temps de tristesse et de conflit.

Le matin du cinquième dimanche du Grand Carême, la sainte icône a de nouveau été reçue dans la paroisse de Meudon, près de Paris, et Mgr Irénée a été accueilli par le clergé pour la Divine Liturgie du jour en l’honneur de Sainte Marie d’Égypte, dont la Vie avait été lu plus tôt dans la semaine. Un grand nombre de fidèles se sont réunis pour le Service Divin en présence de l’icône, au cours de laquelle la majorité a reçu les Saints Mystères du Christ ; et après la liturgie, Vladyka est resté pour converser avec les nombreux fidèles qui étaient présents — y compris un grand nombre d’enfants, qui étaient visiblement ravis de passer du temps avec l’évêque et leur famille paroissiale.

Dans la soirée, Mgr Irénee a rencontré le clergé et les fidèles, l’icône ayant béni les foyers des fidèles à Meudon et à Paris tout au long de l’après-midi.
