The Kursk-root icon visits parishes in the Republic of Ireland. | Курско-Коренная икона посещает приходы в Республике Ирландия.

11 / 24 NOVEMBER 2025: After eventful days in Geneva, the wonderworking Kursk-root icon of the Mother of God began its journey across the island of Ireland. In just the first twenty-four hours of its visit to the ‘Emerald Isle’, a remarkable programme was undertaken.

The focus of the first days of the icon’s visit to the Republic of Ireland was the parish in Stradbally, where a beautiful, small stone church houses the diocese’s cherished parish in honour of St Coleman. En route from the Dublin airport to the parish, by arrangement with His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the holy icon was taken to the Sourozh parish in Dublin, where faithful gathered for a morning moleben. The icon was then taken to a host of homes between Dublin and Stradbally, maintaining the tradition of our Church Abroad that the sacred image of the guide of the Diaspora be brought into parishioners’ homes as often as possible.

In the evening, the Kursk-root icon was met with solemnity in the Stradbally parish, where the temple had been especially beautifully decorated and the path into the church strewn with flower petals in honour of the visits of God’s Mother. An evening service was served before the icon, with a moleben and akathist; and on Tuesday morning the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Priest of the Parish, Father Stanislav Markevcev, together with Priest Robert Williams of the Mission of St Patrick in Clifden.

It was noted by those present that, during the time of Holy Communion, rays of sunlight suddenly entered the Altar and illuminated the Holy Table, and then the entire church together with the wonderworking icon.

After the Liturgy, more home visits were undertaken. Altogether, in just the first 48 hours of the icon’s visit to the island of Ireland, already more than 500 people from all corners have been able to venerate this holy image.

The Kursk-root icon is at present en route to the west of Ireland with Priest Robert, to sanctify the Clifden Mission; and thence it will be taken to Northern Ireland for a short pilgrimage to the holy sites there, and services in the Belfast parish.

11 / 24 НОЯБРЯ 2025 г.: После насыщенных дней в Женеве чудотворная Курско-коренная икона Божией Матери начала свое путешествие по острову Ирландии. Уже в первые двадцать четыре часа пребывания на «изумрудном острове» была осуществлена замечательная программа.

Центром первых дней посещения иконой Республики Ирландии стал приход в Страдбалли, где в прекрасном небольшом каменном храме располагается дорогой сердцу епархии приход в честь святого Колмана. По пути из Дублинского аэродрома в приход, по договоренности с Преосвященным епископом Сурожским Матфеем, святая икона была принесена в сурожский приход в Дублине, где собрались верующие для утреннего молебна. Затем икона была принесена в многочисленные дома между Дублином и Страдбалли, сохраняя традицию нашей Зарубежной Церкви приносить священный образ Заступницы Диаспоры в дома прихожан как можно чаще.

Вечером Курско-коренная икона была с торжественностью встречена в приходе Страдбалли, где храм был особенно красиво украшен, а путь ко храму услан лепестками цветов в честь посещения Матери Божией. Перед иконой было совершено вечернее богослужение, включавшее молебен с акафистом; а во вторник утром Божественную литургию совершил клирик прихода, иерей Станислав Маркевцев, в сослужении с иереем Робертом Уильямсом из Миссии святого Патрика в Клифдене.

Присутствовавшие отметили, что во время Святого Причащения лучи солнечного света внезапно проникли в Алтарь и осветили святой Престол, а затем и весь храм вместе с чудотворной иконой.

После Литургии состоялись новые посещения домов. Всего лишь за первые сорок восемь часов пребывания иконы на острове Ирландии уже более пятисот человек из различных уголков смогли поклониться этому святому образу.

В настоящее время Курско-коренная икона направляется на запад Ирландии вместе с иереем Робертом, чтобы освятить миссию в Клифдене; после чего она будет принесена в Северную Ирландию для краткого паломничества по святым местам и совершения богослужений в Белфастском приходе.
