TUESDAY 16 / 29 MARCH 2022: On the final day of its visit to the British Isles, the wonderworking Kursk-root icon visited the Mission Parish of the All-Merciful Saviour in St Leonard’s on Sea, on the southern coast of England, and the Parish of St Nicholas the Wonderworker in Oxford.

Travelling in the morning from London to St Leonards, near Hastings, the sacred icon was presented to the faithful of the mission parish, which is currently in the process of building a new church to house its Divine Services. Deacon Alexander Groves, resident in the area, welcomed Archpriest Vitaly Serapinas and Archpriest Yaroslav Hudymenko, and those travelling with them with the icon, which was taken into the church construction site to bless the progress of those building works; and then the moleben and akathist to the icon were served in the temple-in-progress by the faithful of the new mission that is beginning its life — a group already growing substantially in size.

The icon visited homes in the region and northwards after the prayers; and in the evening travelled to the university city of Oxford, where it was welcomed into the Parish of St Nicholas the Wonderworker (Diocese of Sourozh). There, with the fraternal blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, a moleben and akafist to the holy icon were served by Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, together with Archpriest Stephen Platt and the clergy of St Nicholas Parish, clergy from the Diocesan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God who had travelled to Oxford with the Bishop, and a host of clergy from the other Local Orthodox Churches who had assembled with a great crowd of faithful of every nationality to venerate the icon of the Mother of God.

Greeting the faithful of the parish after the Divine Service, Vladyka Irenei expressed his happiness that, in these times of difficulty and bloodshed, the wonderworking icon serves as a point of unity everywhere it visits, and especially prayed that its visit would be a consolation and encouragement to the Oxford parish, which had recently suffered an attack of vandalism.

Following the evening services, a reception for the visiting clergy was held, after which the icon returned to London and, the following morning, departed the United Kingdom for other parts of the Diocese.

ВТОРНИК 16 / 29 МАРТА 2022 г.: В заключительный день пребывания на Британских островах чудотворная Курская-Коренная икона Божией Матери посетила миссионерский приход Всемилостивого Спаса в Сейнт Леонардс, расположенный на южном морском побережье Англии, а также приход святителя Николая Чудотворца в Оксфорде. 

Направляясь утром из Лондона в Сейнт Леонардс, близ Гастингса, святыня была преподнесена верующим миссионерского прихода, в котором в настоящее время ведется строительство нового храма. Диакон Александр Гроувс, проживающий в этом регионе, приветствовал протоиереев Виталия Серапинаса и Ярослава Гудименко, сопровождающих икону, которая была доставлена на стройплощадку будущего храма, чтобы благословить ход строительных работ. Затем в строящемся храме перед святыней отслужили молебен и акафист, в присутствии многих верующих, начинающего свою миссию, но уже значительно возросшего, нового прихода.

После молитв икона посещала дома в регионе, и продвигаясь севернее, вечером выехала в университетский город Оксфорд, где была принята в приходе святителя Николая Чудотворца (Сурожской епархии). По братскому благословению Преосвященнейшего епископа Сурожского Матфея, молебен и акафист святой иконе отслужили епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский Ириней вместе с протоиереем Стефаном Платтом и клириками Свято-Николаевского прихода, а также священнослужителями кафедрального Собор Рождества Богородицы, прибывшими с епископом в Оксфорд из Лондона. У святыни вознесли свои молитвы целый сонм священнослужителей из других Поместных Православных Церквей, собравшихся с великим множеством верующих всех национальностей для поклонения чудотворному образу Божией Матери. 

Приветствуя верующих прихода после богослужения, владыка Ириней выразил свою радость от того, что в эти трудные и кровопролитные времена чудотворная икона везде служит точкой единения, и особенно молился о том, чтобы ее посещение было утешением и поддержкой оксфордского прихода, недавно подвергшегося нападению и акту вандализма.

После вечернего богослужения был устроен прием для приезжих священнослужителей, после чего икона вернулась в Лондон, а на следующее утро отбыла из Соединенного Королевства в другие части Великобританской и Западно-Европейской епархии.
