9 / 22 SEPTEMBER 2024: On the 13th Sunday after Pentecost, the Sunday following the Feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos and Preceding the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe made an Archpastoral Visitation to the Parish of the All-Merciful Saviour in St Leonard’s, near Hastings on the southern coast of England. Co-serving His Grace was the Parish Rector, the Reverend Priest Aleksandr Groves, Deacon Andrei Borisas of the London Cathedral, as well as three Readers and other servers.
The Ruling Bishop of the Diocese travelled to St Leonard’s on Saturday evening, at the conclusion of a day of festivities surrounding the Altar Feast at the London Cathedral. Meeting with clergy and members of the parish in St Leonard’s after the evening services, Vladyka expressed his happiness to return to the parish and congratulated Reader Ioannis Sklavenitis on the one-year anniversary of his tonsure to the service of the local community.
On Sunday morning, the Bishop was greeted at the small but beautifully adorned temple, and the Divine Liturgy was served. Following the words of his sermon, the Bishop and faithful processed to the nearby, newly-constructed trapeznaya — taking the form of a garden conservatory — and blessed it for the future use of the community.
A parish meal followed the Divine Services, at which Father Aleksandr expressed his gratitude to the Hierarch and to all the faithful for the growing life of the parish. The Bishop spent several hours with the community, before departing to return to London.
Bishop Irenei will soon depart for Switzerland to head the Divine Services of the Altar Feast of the Geneva Cathedral, later this week.

9 / 22 СЕНТЯБРЯ 2024 г.: В неделю 13-ю по Пятидесятнице, следующую за праздником Рождества Пресвятой Богородицы и предшествующую празднику Воздвижения Креста Господня, Его Преосвященство епископ Лондонский и Западно-Европейский Ириней совершил архипастырский визит в приход Всемилостивого Спаса в Сент-Леонардсе, близ Гастингса на южном побережье Англии. Его Преосвященству сослужили настоятель прихода иерей Александр Гроувс, диакон Андрей Борисас из лондонского кафедрального собора, а также три чтеца и иные алтарники.
Правящий архиерей епархии отправился в Сент-Леонард в субботу вечером, по завершении торжеств, посвященных престольному празднику в кафедральном соборе Лондона. После вечернего богослужения, встретившись с духовенством и членами прихода в Сент-Леонарде, Владыка выразил свою радость по поводу архипастырского визита и поздравил чтеца Иоанниса Склавенитиса с годовщиной его пострига для служения местной общине.
В воскресенье утром епископа встретили в небольшом, но красиво украшенном храме, где была отслужена Божественная литургия. После слов проповеди верующие и Архиерей прошли в близлежащую, недавно устроенную трапезную — сделанную в форме садовой оранжереи — где владыка освятил помещение для будущего пользования приходом.
После богослужения состоялась приходская трапеза, на которой иерей Александр выразил благодарность Архипастырю и всем верующим, отметив развитие приходского служения. Епископ провел несколько часов с общиной, прежде чем вернуться в Лондон.
Епископ Ириней вскоре отправится в Швейцарию, чтобы возглавить богослужения по случаю престольного праздника женевского Кресто-Воздвиженского кафедрального собора, которые состоятся в конце текущей недели.
